When you are replying to a thread, the coloring the box yhat says "Posting Mode: Reply" seems a little off considering the revised color scheme. Other than that I realize it's a eork in progress, and I do like the idea of a facelift, as long as we lose no functionality that we had before. And it would be cool to see things implemented yjat are elsewhere on this board (relinking to /rs/, adding frames back, etc.) within the framework of this nee design.

noticed a couple of things, on /eh/ the message boxes for starting a new thread are above the box with /eh/ - particularly uninteresting conversation, and all that stuff, not next to it as with other boards

also the banners seem a bit small, i know it's not the case with all boards as there is text in the extra space, but i found it noticeable where there was nothing.

i think the font is a little small as well, but that's not that a big deal

I like the smart clean look. The less fussy it is the quicker it should run.

One suggestion though - an expand images option would be nice. Preferably one where you only expand the images in that individual post rather than the whole thread. You could put an icon to click under the >> on the left-hand side.

Padding on the first post inside the border would be nice. The text is a bit too close to the left side. The replies are fine though.

I hate it. The little gaps between posts set off my OCD.

i think posts within the same thread should have no padding, and the whitespace between threads should be just a little bit less.

the only thing that realy throws me off is the borders, though. kind of makes things look a little inelegant, or maybe its just because im not used to it. I can't be sure yet. perhaps the board list at the top could have its table removed anyhow.

How about swapping the time/date/thread number and the buttons/reply? That way the useful shit is right there in the middle and the reference stuff is off to the side. Your layout style is kept intact but the information / tools are arranged in a more useful way.

I am not a fan of this new visual style. At least make it so that the divs conform to the size of the text in the post. I've got a 30" monitor and they are sooooo wide. Also, I think the margins and indentations are too big.

I know where it should be because sometimes it is there, rest of the time as soon as I load the page up it is there then instantly flashes down below.

Also, it is fine on Mozilla-Central (git) I just built this morning though.. so I would assume it's not my firefox settings or compile options (even though it only seems to be me getting it) buggering something up, I also tried fresh profiles with no add-ons and got the same result with both browsers.

Replies no longer stretch to the width of the page. Hopefully this should help people who were having trouble telling threads apart.

While the new layout looks pretty great and helps me keep followed threads organized, it seems that this layout does not work with the now-abandonware "Anonyma" application for iOS, which allows browsing and posting on this site as well as other chan-forums, etc.

Yes, it's an obscure issue, but the fix might be as simple as changing some class names, and it would help me a great deal. I'll try to find a solution, if one exists.

Why would you change that? What was wrong with having just the link? Was there a problem that warranted the change? You had two different functions tied to the same action- one click to open, one click to preview. Elegant as fuck, probably the simplest way to do that kind of thing. Now you have this clunky double click shit.

The change is annoying because when I go through a thread, sometimes I will use the mouse wheel to click the images into other tabs. It was fast and easy. Perfect for reading comics or viewing sequences. When I click them with the mouse wheel now, I get a page stretching surprise and then I remember that you changed the function for apparently no reason.

3 reasons really:
1. The old way was surprisingly not well known. I've found myself, on numerous occasions, telling users of this functionality.
2. It brings the feature in line with other popular imageboards.
3. The new skin left the image info area in a non-static position, so if one wanted to quickly expand and then shrink an image, it would require a mouse movement.

As far as legitimate concerns go, it's unusual to me that the 'expand image' link that I've grown so fond of now has the exact same purpose as actually clicking on the image.

Why not swap the functions? Instead of clicking on the image to go to the file, you click on the link, that way you don't have two links doing the exact same thing right next to each other.

The reason why the file link still expands is purely for transitional purposes. Once enough time has gone by whereby people are acclimated to the new location of the function, it will be removed.

For what it's worth, I approve of the changes. I generally only use a fairly old Acer laptop and some of the old bugs I was getting seem so be fixed now.
I am posting this from my phone though to see how it handles it.

Nothing I have seen so far. However is there anyway we could be able to embed for more sites (Redtube, Hulu, dailymotion, etc.) . More themes (which you mentioned earlier. Think of something uniquely 7chan.). And of course, my old holdout, a link to /rs/ on the top anf bottom menus. All things for future consideration once the bugs are ironed out.

While navigating a board, I get the feeling that there aren't enough visual cues showing that a post is part of a thread. I get that the idea behind the design is to highlight the OP, but as it is now, it looks like the OP and the rest of the posts are entirely separate entities. Maybe it would help to make the line separating threads more visually striking.

It looks okay, but the expanding image thing is really irritating. I saw there was some bug with wheel-clicking and tabs, but whenever I Ctrl-click it still expands it. And not only is it a huge blurry mess when I first open it (which kills any deesire I have to look at the image), but since I'm on a laptop with a small resolution there is no convenient way to look at anything without having to scroll around a lot.

I usually open images up and then look at them all later anyway, so this is pretty off-putting. Could you at least fix Ctrl-click opening up the pics in a new tab, if you could fix wheel-clicking??

My only complaint is with pictures that are way too large for my computer screen. It would be nice to have a page where it shows just the image which automatically fits the picture in the screen. I've noticed that clicking both the thumbnail and the filename both enlarge the pic. I think one of them should open a new tab with just the image. Idk. Some images are just practically impossible to view correctly at such high resolutions so multiple viewing options would be nice.

Some places have these, on the page it shows all the newest threads/posts as if it was a normal board, people can then be directed by [reply] to the appropriate board and thread. I think it would make a good extension to the recent posts on the front page.

It appears as though mousewheel clicking> new tab stopped working with thumbnails again (and, likewise, the problem only exists in Chrome). Now the only way to do it is by clicking on the image's link.

Welp. The new design gives me phpBB vibes ala 2001, and that's not a good thing. The borders are horrible, there's too much space between threads and between posts within threads, and the bar at the top of OP posts is fugly. Also, when I open a new thread the box with rules is way too prominent.

If it the new design is here to stay, I'd like to know how to fix all the text being incredible small on all boards + frontpage. I'm using the newest Chrome build on Windows 7 64 bit.

If you're using a mouse, you can just click with the scroll wheel, that automatically opens anything in a new tab. It's what I do for pretty much everything so I don't redirect the page I'm browsing.

It's great, just clean and simple except for one little thing. Please make it so that when you middle click it opens in a new window like it should. It makes things a lot easier since a direct click already expands the image. Please Please please make this change it's extremely irritating and makes things take much longer!

Expanding images upon single-click kind of sucks. The images feel like they're taking longer to load, and really big images don't scale to the size of the screen forcing the use of horizontal scroll. Middle/double click to open in a new tab is just obnoxious since no other imageboards do it that way and the muscle memory is all wrong. Could large expanded images at least be resized so they fit the screen, similarly to the way they would be resized if opened in a new tab? That would at least reduce the penalty for expanding an image unintentionally. Just try browsing /wp/ for a while, you'll see.

I don't expect this board to follow every suggestion (mine included), but you should appreciate the perspective of a noob who's willing to take some time to offer feedback, especially when his motivation is to save YOU (the users and admins of this board) the headache of dealing with more users posting without knowing the rules. Not all of us spend a lot of time on discussion boards, and your assumptions about what people should already know and their ability to find it on this board in its current form don't apply to everyone.

I'll re-word my suggestion because your response tells me you missed my point last time:
If you'd rather have people following the rules, you should make them easy to find.

I know where the global rules are. I knew that before posting here. I just had to put some effort into finding them, which I know from experience means that not everyone is going to bother. This is not about my being ignorant of the rules of this board, as your response seems to suggest. It's feedback concerning the current layout from a guy who sees a potential problem.

Of course my assumption that you'd rather have people following the rules here may not be valid either - maybe some people enjoy flaming newbies for not knowing or following the board rules (wouldn't be the first place or the last where that went on), and maybe others secretly enjoy using the power to ban people.

If you'd rather have people following the rules, you should make them easy to find. It should hardly come as a shock to you that making something easy will result in more people doing it.

My only thought is it seems great from my point of view, but does have a bizzare effect on my part. I load your pages on mobile, so screen size is reduced to accomodate my small screen. (psp.. kinda sucks, but works.)
This is a petty matter, but does anyone know why the panels cover the text and links? All I see are images and numbers unless if I stop the loading process mid way. I wish I can figure out how to get the full screen where I could move left and right.

My only suggestion is that you convert Nigrachan.

But may I add my say to the site's aesthetics?

Add a "feed" box on the top right corner with the 7ch radio and buttons to turn off/on and volume and such. Also, constantly be streaming Jazz music. It would fit the whole 7chan theme.

Is it possible to change how "Expand All Images" loads? Right now it just goes in random order, which might be fine for smaller threads, but once you have 50+ images it takes forever. Can't you prioritize it to load in order from first to last post?

Didn't there used to be an index of all threads? I would be nice to have that back I think.
Also I am curious why there is not a search feature ?

Are you talking about boards' catalogs?

If you are, and you want to see it, add catalog.html to the URL of any board (I assume it works for every most boards, but I only checked it for /eh/, /b/ and /fail/; /7ch/, for example, doesn't have a catalog).

It is also simply linked in the "Rules" box of any board that has a catalog.

Can we have the "[Return] [Entire Thread] [Last 50 posts]" links just on top of the first post ? They are closer in meaning to the thread content than to the Reply box.


They seem lost in between the logo and the "Posting mode" banner. It is especially weird with big Rules boxes (eg /s/ at the moment).

After reading this thread while trying to find the expand images option, I've found out, that it doesn't display in Opera 12.01 as opposed to Chrome or Windows Internet Explorer. Picture related.
Any feedback on this issue?

Better late than never, the other board themes have been made compatible with the new layout. In addition, three new themes have been added, thanks to ice. You can see them all in the settings tab above. If you see any issues, don't hesitate to let us know.
