Russia looks depressing, but at least you have an excellent literary tradition.

This is in the past, in the present, Russian literature is shit. You are from the UK or the USA ?

Anonymous 17/08/05(Sat)16:13 No. 770843

This is going to sound silly, but in the eighth grade I wrote an extremely in-depth biography of Stalin. My teacher called it college-level work and was a bit dumbfounded at how much effort I put into it. Unfortunately I don't think I have any remaining copies, but it stands out to me that this sentiment >>770842 was in my closing paragraph.

I had concluded that his reign undermined the economic capabilities of the USSR, amplified the bottleneck in population growth caused by losses in World War II, and all but destroyed the artistic and intellectual capacity of contemporary Russian writers who were lucky enough to survive.

Present literature is unknown in USA.

Dostoevsky is popular among anthropology majors. The famous classic Russian authors are known by a small minority.

Everybody knows that there was an author called Tolstoy, but do they know what his literature is about? Have they read it?
