Yes. Either that, or a gym membership. Sound body, sound mind, after all.

Really, $150 to invest in the market is kind of like trying to buy something at Tiffany's for... well, $150. You might be able to buy something small, but in the long run the investment won't be worth it.

What should you purchase with your 150 wages? Not stocks. Buy some books and read. Invest in yourself, not in a company where your investment will likely disappear.

Good day fine gents!

I've encountered a stretch of unemployment, but as I was taking a stroll the other day I volunteered to work the local election. between that and some ermegency money, I find myself with $150 to invest.

I have a $5,000 portfolio which is managed for me, but I thought, for a lark, I'd pick one stock to invest in. To speculate, as it were.

I've heard JCPenny is making a comeback, and I've been told I should also look into Facebook, Best Buy and big box retailers. Although I believe Best Buy is a load of poppycock and is heading for bankruptcy.

I'm interested in entertainemnr companies and tech companies. Maybe Wal-Mart, Disney (seems to be riding too high) Target, Sony, Walgreens, Exxon-Mobil, Verizonm, etc?

Praytell, what should I purchase with my hard-earned wages?

>>2107
I was righting a complex and well justified response to this thread when my explorer crashed, and now I'm no longer in the mood, so let's just go to the authors.
For literature, try Palahniuk, and Douglas Adams, those folks are good. Also, this gent mentioned Borges >>2126 in here, and I suggest him too, but I like Alfredo Castillo even better (they are bought into some similar lines of writing), and if you dig Poe you should give this argie a try and you won't be disappointed. Not at all.
If you're into philosophy, Spinoza and Lao Tse have saved me more than once. You won't need to read anything else than those to understand pretty much everything there's to understand out there.

Although I stand here surrounded by mostly western classy sports, one cannot forget out gentlemanly brothers in the East. Particularly, Japan's Kendojutsu, and more specifically, a battle of Battojutsu.

I shall take the liberty of introducing Battojutsu.

Battojutsu is actually a battle of speed. It is a race between two swordsmen who will draw their swords in record time. Unlike other common jutsu like karatedo, Aikido and kendojutsu, Battojutsu is reserved for the most privileged and most skillful swordsmen. Luckily, I have been endowed with such knowledge. However, to actually practice it is very hard, and I perform it with such clumsiness and crassness that if I were to use it in a medieval fight, I would have most certainly lost.

I am gentlemanly heathen and anti-conformist, so I immerse myself in the works of George Orwell with a slight smattering of Marx and Engels. But I happen to enjoy Hemingway and the Analects of Confucius as well.
