Do you hm, talk about homestuck in here?

My friend actually prefers the older MSPaint Adventures stories with their user-suggested silliness. He got two thirds of the way through Problem Sleuth before he decided that the stories were too up their own ass in snarled, convoluted plotlines for his taste. On the other hand, Homestuck's grandiose multimedia presentation has grown on me with its seamlessly blending the Wagnerian ideal of a gesamtkunstwerk with everything awesome and loathsome about the Internet. While I generally have a low tolerance for most fanbases' bullshit, it's actually to Homestuck's advantage to have many passionate vocal fans to discuss, explain, extrapolate, and speculate about it because it is such a multifaceted story packed with detail. ("Packed with detail" seems a weird phrase to use about a comic that deliberately aims for a more lo-fi aesthetic, yet the writing makes up for it.)

Of course, the author has remained deliberately vague and open-ended with what he'll do next when Homestuck reaches its conclusion, but if I had my way, I'd like to see a return to the simpler, goofier style with more user-submitted ideas on the MSPaint Adventures site but with a more intensive, serious, large-scale story getting its own website. Both approaches have been equally entertaining to me, so I wouldn't mind seeing more of both.

Ah jeez. Reading and knowing so much about this comic is kind of a guilty pleasure. Maybe I just have a thing for stories with twists and turns that aren't really visible unless you go over it with a pair of tweezers.

Especially considering all the shit thats been going on in Act 6. You could find traces of evidence regarding it as early as Act 3. And this Lord English guy? Wasn't even supposed to make it passed the Midnight Crew intermission, yet here he is fucking stuff up (Though not out in the open, mind you).

Homestuck is one hell of a drug.

I don't even goddamn care if it's necro-shota-cyber-yaoi. This is the most epic kiss in the entire history of human fiction. In may be equaled in the unknown future, but it will never be surpassed.

What's the best way to introduce someone to Homestuck?

Speaking as a fan of Homestuck, don't introduce them to Homestuck. Introduce them to Problem Sleuth first.

If they like Problem Sleuth, they will automatically get into Homestuck when they're done with PS. If they don't like it, they will shrug and accept it as not their thing.

But if you try to introduce them directly to Homestuck, and they happen to not like it, they won't just shrug it off. They will despise it with every fiber of their being and hate you for bringing it into their awareness.

If they stuck through Problem Sleuth, also have them read through Jailbreak and Bard Quest just so they can get some of the running gags.

Sure, why the hell not?

People have been saying there's an update tomorrow.

Any idea on what it'll be about?

I just discovered that there is a Danish actress named Hella Joof. Maybe the update will be about her.

Post a good flash from homestuck that shows off all the intricacies of the world, and its mindfuckery. Cascade is always a good one.

Alternatively, you could get them to listen to the "let's read" on youtube, and tell them that if they're not hooked by act 2, they can quit.

I think the Kickstarter video might be a good way to get people interested. It's a bit spoilery but I don't think it's anything major.

>>23278 The only thing I remember from the Kickstarter was a bunch of activists butt hurting about people throwing all their money on Homestuck rather than putting it to good use, such as buying Indian land to "protect" it from be "developed."

I still donated to Homestuck, bitches.

It's careless about how it shows spoilers, and too long by about half. There's an older fan video that's much better about those problems but obviously isn't perfect.
