John have you ever been in an elevator? Nothing but you and that characterless elevator music humming in your ear. I find these times to be so odd. Kind of like you're in a small bubble by yourself, surrounded by nothing but your thoughts (and elevator music). During these times I tend to think about all the places I'll never go and all the people I never get to meet.

I got stuck in one before for 30 minutes. There was no music. I didn't think about anything other than "I want to leave this elevator".

Your post reminded me of a comedy sketch about a voice operated elevator in the UK unable to understand a pair of Scotsmen.

Most elevators have security cameras now. No more private bubble.

>surrounded by nothing but your thoughts
I once did a meditation in an elevator (sans music). I entered the door and then stood there until another person interacted with it. I was alone in the elevator for several minutes before it began to climb; eventually I got out on the sixth floor, where I had no business at all.

When I returned I posted an audio recording of my thought process online, but regrettably this has been lost over the years.

Elevators have music? What type of movie do you live in?
