I basically shouldn't have but got my diploma out of pity.

I got bored of HS and got a GED instead, went to community college, got bored, then started working in IT.

I didn't go to my graduation. I had a friend at the time, another sort of dejected internet going lad. Though his preferences were different we shared in /b/ tier hooliganism while we knew each other.

From what I understand, as it was told to me, he showed up to the ceremony, asked around if I was there, and then left.

I graduated on time but that's because someone made the mistake of telling me the minimum requirements for graduation when I was in tenth grade. I did what I had to and nothing more. No college prep classes, no effort in phys ed, no math passed my junior year. It was great. My senior year would have been even more slack because I only needed my English credit and my Graphics & Printing credits but the school got rid of study halls so I had to pick a couple of fuck off classes to fill my day since I wasn't old enough to sign myself out.

I remember all my teachers telling me to not go to college or university after I was done

There's nothing about having a diploma that makes me feel particularly superior to someone who doesn't. Rarely do any of the degrees have a direct correlation with knowing what you're doing, least of all in this modern age where lots of information is freely available over the Internet.

I remember skipping straight from high school algebra to college calculus without precalculus in between, so now I'm using Khan Academy to refresh my knowledge of the portions of math that I'd carelessly breezed past. I'm pleasantly surprised with how deep trigonometry can be.
