>get banned from shit
>oh lol I'll just change my IP it's dynamic by default with comcast they said
>reboot modem
>external IP completely unchanged
>nobody else on the internet knows why Comcast's dynamic IPs don't change
>I'm a fucking retard
Anything I can do other than calling them and being on hold for an hour with a robot? Their support chat is shit, already tried that.

As an ex employee of said company, I can tell you that no employees, even in the more technical areas over the phone, know how to/have the ability to change your IP.

When I was working there I had managed a way to do it, but it was dangerous and could leave your account in a rather unusable state.

in the end, maybe you should be less of a retard and stop getting banned from stuff. way to greentext.

1) Perform DHCP release on system (or router) attached to cable modem
2) Disconnect system from cable modem
3) Power off cable modem
4) Change MAC address on system
5) Reconnect power to cable modem
6) Reconnect system to cable modem

The only way this process will fail is if you're running the cable modem in NAT mode. If you're depending on the cable modem to provide you with a wireless connection, then this means you. If you do have it in NAT mode, it will never change it's IP address until Comcast tells it to.

The solution is to be a good little boy, buy your own wireless router (RT-N12B1s are around $40), connect it to the modem, and get Comcast to stick the modem into bridge mode. This will disable wireless connectivity on the modem, which is why you'd need a router.

why is computing handled by c/s and not

electronics engineers, and do electronics engineers

have enough the background to do computer eng, or telecom eng?

It's so hard to choose where to go education wise. I'm sure I could learn more on my own by taking a break from work and self-studying but society does not respect that.

Choose what you think will make you the happiest and what will be most fun to learn and know. Don't think about how much money it might get you.

Your clarification was quite helpful for me.

When I try and move these files it says file name is too long even if I reduce it to two characters.

Not OP.
Thank you anon, I had a file for several years with a filename too long to even delete it. I was about to format and reinstall my OS.
I feel like an idiot.

You were going to format and re-install over one file??

That's totally overreacting, I've had a drive installed for over a year that has bad (named on linux, drive used on windows, filenames contain ^%$£!, etc...) and I haven't had any problems (including file reads, I used to use the drive for torrents, now VLC doesn't show the video name from the metadata in its process metadata... >:(

Not sure if this is right place to ask, but I did not found any better alternatives.

Anyway, I want to buy a particular e-book (epub format) and then share it with the word (well just my country actually, as I am from non-major language speaking one). The question is how to do it anonymously? As those greedy bastards will for sure try to hunt the source down.

Please advice or direct me to the right place as google-foo had failed me.

Picture kinda related it is Ching Shih, 19th Century Queen of Pirates.

You should have all plugins, whether Java, Flash, Silverlight, or anything, disabled if you want to be anonymous. Also set your user agent to IE 8 or 9. Bonus points if you're on Linux or another Unix-based OS.

Thanks for the suggestions. One last question is, does epub have some kind of DRM that I need to be aware of?

I believe it can. Ducking epub drm resulted in this. http://www.ebook-converter.com/epub-drm-removal.htm

You should also strip all metadata from it before you upload it and make sure to check for watermarks and such that could identify you.

I have 2 facebook accounts. One is my main and the other is an experimental account.
The experimental is not meant to have any interactions with my known social sphere.
I have 1 email account, used for everything except the management of the special facebook account. My main facebook has no photos on it.
My experimental has a profile picture. In my hotmail my 'display picture' shows the same display I use on the experimental account.
It is used on facebook special exclusively. I never connected the accounts.
When I go to place on hotmail where you manage accounts no facebook connection is shown, yeck, no connections what so ever have been made or are shown to have ever been made.
I did not have to facebook special and hotmail open at the same time.
No conspiracy bullshit, just tell me, how did this happen and how can I hide my tail!

I've bought a few electronics that smelled slightly burned when opened. As far as I can recall they worked fine.

I'm thinking it's because they were sealed they always give off this faint odour.

Only if they require a shipping address, and then you can choose to send them a different address.

>>Registry programs generally are a step above a scam at best
>several people in on here recommend DLL-files Fixer

Yea that is fine, but helper application should generally not have to be be used as 'the fix' after the fact.

I use avgfree, basic window native firewalls, ccleaner, which has a utility for the registry that merely removes unused entries.

I have never had a virus that I can think of.

I don't use or recommend extra spyware programs or overkill on security. Windows is stable if one works it right.

This site alone is one of the most old school trusted sites known http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001077.htm. <talks about registry programs in short detail

That eldergeek, techguy.org. are good along with masses of others are good references.

Yeah you're probably going to want to install a "PDF Printer" type utility and then just print out of an XPS Viewer to the PDF printer, which handles the heavy lifting of creating a PDF file.
