So I got the Acer C7 Chromebook as an X-Mas gift. I get the idea and all, by storing all files on a cloud and running web-based "apps", the operating system is streamlined and runs smooth as butter. The minimalistic UI is appealing and web-based applications such as e-mail, document storage, and google+ integration are available at the click of a button. But wait...I'm not a business professional, I don't use e-mail. I've never even used Google+ nor do I plan to. I'm not a student so I don't need to store any documents. I don't have a credit card so I can't listen to/store/do any little thing regarding music or video files using google play. Now I enjoy Tumblr, Facebook, and Youtube as much as the next guy, but I also enjoy the ability to manage my media files, download torrents, and photoshop pictures. I don't mean to complain, but as someone with no experience with Linux, let alone such a limited interface as this, just what the fuck am I supposed to do with it? What the fuck am I supposed to do with a machine that doesn't run programs?! I can't even read comic books (.cbr) files on it. I just don't get this OS and I can't escape it and I need to either understand it or I will just hate it.
