A few things that might help get those questions answered faster. Be specific when you are talking about something - "my mp3 player is broken HALP!?" - What kind of mp3 player, (brand and model) - What isn't is doing now that it was before (the reason it is "broken") - What were you doing to it last, right before it broke.. Did you maybe drop it?.. get it a little wet? try to flash the firmware?! These all help in determining what can be done. These rules do not just apply to MP3 players. Just be as specific as possible and don’t leave stuff out, we want to be helpful here, try not to make it a scavenger hunt for clues! These same rules apply for other situations like “I got a new motherboard and now my computer doesn’t post!” -old motherboard model -new motherboard model -ram (speed) and any other component you might have in there (most of the other stuff usually won’t matter but list what you know. Just because you don’t list the information I suggest does NOT mean you will get banned or your thread would get deleted, these guidelines are here to halp, halp you and halp us.
People seem to ask about tools to download all the pictures from a website, or things of that nature, here is a helpful users helpful response to that question. "I generally use the DownThemAll! or FlashGot Firefox addons, sometimes with the help of Greasemonkey scripts to make gallery thumbnails link directly to the image files. Note that DownThemAll!'s manager includes an "Add URL(s)" button where you can put in a template URL to download a series of numbered images or other files. There are also a number of Firefox extensions to do things like save the image file that's open in each tab (Bazzacuda Image Saver). If you're into extreme overkill, there's also WinHTTrack. It can download anything from a single page plus all the files it links to, to multiple entire websites." Another suggestion is also WebRipper, "cos it's easy to use"
>>3752 Even if the thumbnails and the large pics have different, but predictable, adresses? E.g. www.site.com/thumb_pic.jpg www.site.com/pic.jpg
>>3752 Oh, I've tried Httrack. Ages and ages and a not a much bang for the buck. I use it only, and only, for siterips. Just harvesting pics with Httrack (unless you got 1337 skillz) is overkill. My method for downloading pics is this: Firefox -> Right click -> Show sideinfo (?) -> Media -> Copy and paste into OpenOffice Write -> Trim the text* -> Copy into Free Download Manager** -> Profit. *) This is a chapter of its own. What you should remove is all links to unwanted media (e.g. button images). Then you should make the real links to the images. Mostly it's a simple case of search and substitute. It could be that the real pics have different names or that they are in a different folder. But it could be something worse. E.g. www.site.com/pic1.jpg?with=20&height=30 www.site.com/pic2.jpg?with=25&height=25 Now, this won't be solved with a simple search and substitute, it requires deletion by hand. Also, I've discovered that if you set the font size to 6 it's easier to get the bigger picture. **) Some sites will block you if you are greedy and download too fast. Trying to download a few gigs of pics at once could easily be interpreted as a DOS attack. Better to err on the side of caution. Does it really matter if it takes the whole night to download the pics as long as they really gets downloaded? Be smart and everyone can be a winner.
STOP TYPING LIKE RETARDS!!! good chance you will get banned if you cannot spell, i am not going to be a grammar Nazi or anything and typos are fine, the issue is when people type "oy hei guiez eye am havnsx suem camputer trubbblesz can ewe /halp ? (ya, and I jus tipe liek dis all deh tyme cuz ets 1337 h4xlolmg)" i am by no means prefect at spelling or grammar... but at least TRY!!
>>5595 You honestly have NO idea how much I agree. It's really not that hard to attempt to use proper spelling and grammar!
It's real easy to spot IE users because they can't spell worth a damn. Firefox has had a built in spellchecker since 2006.
>>6602 So does all of OS X, and you see plenty of Mac users who can't spell. Without some kind of badass, context-comprehending AI, spellcheck only goes so far (and that's if the user pays attention to its suggestions at all).
>>6609 >some kind of badass, context-comprehending AI.
>>3807 >But it could be something worse. In situations like this shit like regular expressions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regular_expression) are actually useful - with a little dicking around, some mad hax and a text editing program that supports them (Notepad++ and ConteXt for windows do, don't know about Mac, pretty much anything for windows) you can make it select anything that looks like a url (tutorials here: http://www.regular-expressions.info/tutorial.html, takes a while to get to the helpful stuff). But its really only useful to learn it if you do a /lot/ of this kinda stuff.
recommended is spelled with two m's. you can delete this post after making the correction.
