Cheap Organics @ Self Checkout Modern Mom 14/10/20(Mon)07:55 No. 2415 ID: c46413

So you wanna be like the yoga moms and eat organic bananas but don't got the $$$??????

Just go to the stupid self check-out and ring your gotdang Organic Bananas as regular Bananas (or whatever the fuck else produce you want)~~~~~~~~~~

I've never been confronted about this by staff, but if you are you can just say it was a mistake or w/e.

I'm sure a lot of you have already thought to do this/don't care about organics. Regular bananas make my mouth itch and organic ones don't. I thought I was just mildly allergic to bananas until I had an organic one. Looked into it and apparently the herbicides and pesticides actually move into the flesh of the fruit. shit's cray.

Bar coded produce?

Modern Mom 14/10/21(Tue)02:33 No. 2418 ID: e22576

Placebo effect.

There is lots of organic food that isn't even actually "organic". It's just a marketing ploy to trick goyim.

Heck Organic food isn't even sustainable. Have fun with insects ruining all your crops and fake placebo "superior" vegetables for an inflated price.

It's the same as the Gluten-free mania people are experiencing. Only 1% of the population cannot eat gluten, those with celiac disease. Everyone else is just trying to do whats popular or they're a middle aged mom trying to think of kookie ways to lose weight instead of just eating a caloric deficit.

As an organic farmer who uses no fertilizers or pesticides and has no problems with controlling pests, I ask you to do your homework on sustainable organic agriculture before you regurgitate information you might have read on an article somewhere on the internet. Any farmer, organic or not, who farms unsustainably is mistaken and is using wrong methods. It is possible to maintain a high-yield farm sustainably using non-conventional methods. Read more. Try growing a sustainable garden. Learn something.

Many self checkouts have a weight and lookup product tool for by the pound produce.

This would work with any similar looking produce, just ring it out as a cheaper alternative. Its basically stealing but it's a very low risk way to steal.

Honestly the cheapest produce in an american grocery store still tastes great. So not that useful in my opinion.

if you want to take it up a notch, try using the self checkout and ringing stuff up that isn't fruit or veg as fruit or veg. a friend recently got a 12 dollar bottle of vitamins for less than 2 dollsrs cause she rang them up as bananas at 40 cents a pound or something

Modern Mom 14/11/07(Fri)07:52 No. 2437 ID: 38b5fc

I highly doubt but cannot guarantee it's not placebo. I never used to give a shit about organics until I ate an organic one at my friends house and noticed that it didn't make my mouth itch. I only found out after I had it that it was organic. I have done blinded tests with a friend and have always been right.

As I said, the pesticides leech into the flesh. It's probably just an allergy to the pesticide or whatever is sprayed on it. I'm not trying to say "Wow this shit is poison!!!!!! omg must detox!!!"

Hehe I also have celiac's so fuck off! I think there are a lot of people just following trends with the gluten-free stuff, but as someone with celiac's i'm totally fine with that as it supports an industry that helps me greatly.
Regardless, placebo effect is still an effect. Though I do believe many more people are having difficulty with gluten as of late I haven't done enough research to backup that claim. To pubmed I go!

this is p. interesting tho: gluten and dairy cause autoimmune reaction in the brain in sensitive people

Same experience with bananas here, so I don't think it is a placebo.

Modern Mom 17/05/05(Fri)12:06 No. 3001 ID: 21de63

I worked produce before, that wouldn't have went over well where I worked. Probably would have been barred from the store.
