I've been dumpstering for about 5 years now and have found grocery stores to be a profitable place to hit up the food is usually in good shape during the colder months.
Bakeries are great they usually dump the oldish bread in one trash bag. Pizza places that do high volume of sales dump alot of pizzas in the box so you dont half to worry about them the peperoni they put on them are good for about 24 hours and so is cheese

Dumpster diving isn't even out of desperation for me anymore. It's a way of life. Tastes better when it's free, and i feel like I rescued it! I actually can't let myself pay for food anymore. There is no need.

As for shoplifting though, I hung up my large pocket-riddled coats long ago. Now I just ∆ TRANSCEND ∆ THE ∆ CHECKOUT ∆ LINE ∆
people don't ask questions when you look like you know what you're doing. and that goes for everything in life.

I think I'm healthier now that I consume "trash"
usually the food has not expired yet or just recently passed the made-up "expiry date", but one time we had so much yogurt, some of it didn't get eaten until a year past the date. I have consumed year-old yogurt and I feel like a superhero. Immuno Man. It was special drinkable probiotic whatever stuff though.

This works for me:

>Be hulking black monstrosity with a heart of gold and hidden behind a scowl

> Go into wal-mart

>Go to deli

>Order something small (chicken bites (lol chikkin), fries etc)

>Flirt with serving lady (or man !?)

>Tell them you'll pay at the register

>Walk around store eating it

>Once finished, exit through the plant section

Get in heavy with the coupon sites and learn the tricks. Me and my girlfriend decided to do this as a project, and it's tedious, but ended up with like $400 for $30. You don't need to go the big, and I'm fact if you just make select purchases where you can stack online coupons with Sunday paper ones, and if you call certain brands support lines to fish for coupons....you'll do fine, ad it all can be done pretty easy.

easiest way to get free food is to walk in to a fast food restaurant and tell them you went through the drive-thru with a big order and they forgot your (insert menu item here). Works 9 times out of ten.

>>
Modern Mom 13/07/05(Fri)16:27 No. 1450 ID: 88f7ae

You order something at the drive through. Then you park and walk inside. You say that they forgot something. Most of the time they will give it to you after a short argument. I used to work at fast food, and yeah, it happens.

Another thing people do is enter the drive through, then say they have changed their mind and they don't want anything. Then they drive past the payment window and pick up whatever the guy behind them is ordering. It happened to me once... I ordered a coffee, and I watched the woman in front of me take the coffee and drive off. Then I pulled up and they asked me what I ordered. I said that I ordered a coffee, and they seemed to instantly understand what happened, so I guess this kind of shit happens all the time.

I work at a golf club and banquet center washing dishes, line cook, trash, etc. We throw out alot of food at the end of the night if it was a buffet-style dinner that went on. This probably may be different than you because you live somewehre else, but just going out to my dumpster to throw the trash and leftover food away is dangerous...well only at night time. Fucking racoons man.

also did anybody see the golden coral videos/pictures of how unsanitary shit was?

I have a question about dumpster diving for food.
What are the precautions to take?
Is the food like new or do you guys just eat someone's leftover pizza?
What kind of dumpster should I be looking in?
What do you do if someone sees you?

I've thought about it too. A fuck load of stigma swarming around that idea, tho.

The idea that I can eat fresh food out of the dumpster next to a hotel which doesn't allow their employees to eat the leftovers sounds quite appealing. I know of a pizza joint that deliberately throws out leftover pizzas double bagged for homeless folks to get into.

They take the stuff that stores throw out, not trash from peoples homes. The stores throw stuff taken directly from the shelves because they would rather throw out a bunch of good food than risk that one of those items go bad while still on the shelf because that would damage sales.

Dumpster diving is a good short term solution and moderate long term solution. If you want to get serious about free food for the long term, you have to learn to forage. Go to your local library and actually read books about identifying plants. You will be surprised by how many common plants are edible.

Then get organized with some other foragers. Benefit from their experience, and pass along your own. The Falling Fruit dot org website is a good place to start.

Also become a frequent visitor of the websites FreeCycle dot org and Freegan dot info.

When your belly is full, begin salvaging other valuables you find along the way. A lot of those vacuum cleaners on the curb simply need a broken belt replaced and then they work fine. Most metals can be salvaged and sold for scrap. You will need to get organized so that you aren't being anti-productive like driving to the scrap yard and spending five dollars on gas to get paid four dollars. It would help to also establish a garage or rented space to hold and organize your salvages until you can liquidate them.

Head out to your local farmers market with maybe five boxes or more. Ask each vendor if they're willing to donate. If they say yes, hand them a box and allow them to fill them (usually they wait until the market closes before filling up). Pick up the boxes and leave.

If anyone asks-- tell them you're helping out the homeless around your community. This may start out as self serving at first, but once you begin to build a rep, vendors will ask for more boxes. I started with five, now I bring in thirty boxes. Since I can't eat all this stuff in a week, I actually started to give it out.

Tips:
• Bring stable boxes, nothing flimsy or damaged. Also make sure your boxes has no holes so smaller produce like grapes or cherries don't fall through.

• You might want to speak with the coordinator first before handing out boxes. If you don't know who the coordinator is, ask a vendor and they can point him/her out.

• Bring your own dolly and perhaps a friend or two if it becomes too much to handle by yourself.

• Always smile. (:

Theres a fella in Japan, who lived close to the airpot. He purchased a first class ticket for some random flight. With the purchase of the ticket he is allowed to eat free on that day at the airport. He would go in, eat then at the end of the day, reschedule his ticket to the next day. He did this, for 364 days, then on the last day, he got his ticket refunded before it expired the next day.

NOW GO FUCKING MOVE BESIDE AN AIRPORT

some greens take less 13 weeks to be fully grown . if u have a big enough garden it would last for few weeks.

it's not like gathering dirt is going to cost u.
some edible mushrooms are a good option too.

Find a Hare Krishna temple near you.
Part of their religion involves giving.
For example, I live in Dallas. There's a Hare Krishna Temple near Downtown and inside they have a nice restaurant called Kalachandji's. They stress that all prices listed are "suggested donations." Meaning they will feed you for free, because it's part of their tradition.

>>2226
I forgot to mention....
Hare Krishnas don't eat meat.
So, expect vegan or vegetarian food.
You'll forget that they serve no mean. Most of the food is quite tasty.

Seconding how good Hare Krishna food is, they run events at my uni a few times a year where if you sit through their religious stuff for 30-45 minutes you get a buffet dinner that's at least as good as a mid-tier restaurant.
They go around asking for donations, but if you look poor (i.e. don't go wearing suit + tie or whatever) they don't mind.
The last time I went I was on E and gave them, like, €30 and they gave me an enormous box of leftovers in gratitude (enough for 4/5 dinners).
Gotta say, I don't like religion, but those dudes are really cool.

Not op but I called three fast food chains customer service, and I said "I was at your insert fast food chain and my food was cold fries were soggy, and I didn't even eat all of it" I made a mistake and said that this happened during lunch time (one manager made it little harder)

So, I have free combo meals at 3 different fast food chains for this weekend/next week, and a gift card for another food chain coming in the mail.

You can order really complicated meals that they will most definitely mess up.

Some pizza places let you replace toppings for other toppings of equal value, So I normally order the pizza with the most toppings and then change everything on it.

(Some places have a limited amount of changes you can make.)

After you get your pizza you just ring them up and tell them they made a mistake and they almost always just give you credit for a free pizza (using your address or phone as ID)

You can keep doing this even with the free pizzas.

I've never done it for more than like 10 free pizzas in a row, but i've heard of people stringing it along for months.

You can also just lie.

I work at KFC.

* A water cup is ten cents. We can't stop you from filling it with something other than water.

* A lady came in, bought an 8 piece bucket without sides, took out 1 piece of chicken, then returned it claiming there were only 7 pieces and she didn't want it anymore. Kinda involved but doable.

* Get any reciept (look in the parking lot, or get some out of the trash inside after getting your water cup), come back later that day or the next day and make some complaint. We will usually give you whatever you wanted replaced, and if you're nice you'll get a free root beer float.
