How selective is the admission process? Do you turn down many works?

I think were accepting 33-40 percent? Since we are new we haven't reached the amount of submission we want yet. If you write proper and are willing to communicate with editors and revise your text I'd say that it's likely that you'll get in.

We are looking to build an author base, to build a small community. You're welcome.

Also, we only publish five pieces of prose, five poems and five works of essay maximum per issue.

Hipster Slut 13/04/05(Fri)14:11 No. 16787

I doubt the OP is still checking this thread, but just in case: are there any genres of prose that you will/won't publish (or genres you prefer to publish)?

This is assuming the story is of good enough quality, author is willing to compromise with editors, et cetera.

You're right on the money. And anything that goes outside of "the norms" so to speak, you can always submit to "silly submissions" which is pretty much anything goes. As long as it is well-written.

Hipster Slut 13/04/06(Sat)13:21 No. 16789

so is there a physical magazine? i saw some in a picture in the news section of the site.
i myself prefer a physical copy to an online article, and im wondering if there was a way to subscibe.
failing that, would there be a subscription service whereby a notification is delivered to an email adress when an issue is put out.

We print two issues for every new release. Mostly for the authors sake, so they can be "published".

Since I come from the publishing biz I can tell you that printing is dying. It'll become a luxury for collectors. Our only advantage is that we can exist cheap on the net without having distributing routes that is hella expensive. Why would we bring our own magazine to its knees just for the sake of having a paper? It's ... foolish. And it would end the magazine and me financially.

We are looking to get everything to e-pub and mobi, and some kind of regular notification service.

If you follow us on facebook or twitter you'll get notified there as well.

I'd also like to point out that we are looking for people interested in becoming editors.

I printed two issues and sent to an author for the first issue as well. It cost me with international shipping 40 dollars.

To get down the printing costs (with a deceent quality) to 1-2 dollar per issue we'd need to print perhaps 1000 issues, and then ship them abroad.

It would take endless amount of time and the effort just isn't worth it. We'd probably not brake even. And untop of that, if we were to start selling a product, we'd need to register a company, start paying taxes etc...

However, if you download the pdf you can take it to your local print and ask them to print it and pay up. More like a DIY thing.

Do I really want to be published in a magazine whose editors don't even know how to write titles?

I was going to submit some poetry but your lack of professionalism made me change my mind.

Question: who reads e-magazines?

Question: who reads amateur poetry?

Answer: people who submitted their own poetry.

Thanks for the tip, we'll look over our routines.
>>16793
Obviously errors will escape us. I'm sad to hear that you no longer intend to submit your poetry.
>>16794
In the beginning, yes. But we intend to persist and slowly our quality will grow.

For those interested, we are now listed on Duotrope:

We've now corrected the errors, I assume you saw, on the front page.

All titles are capitalized in the magazine.

I'll pass on editing but I would appreciate an RSS feed exclusively for the magazine/reveal, this thread is the only reason I'm even aware of new issues. I don't use facebook/twitter and I don't want a feed with every single article you release cluttering up my current feeds.
