I'm going to put this in motion, but since the response to the sticky was so low, I'm going to set a glacial pace. At least for now.

I struggled with whether to pick something fiction or nonfiction, so I'm selecting two books for the rest of the year:


Permutation City by Greg Egan

and

The Spell of the Sensuous by David Abram



You may also use this thread to suggest a book, but I'm more likely to pick the suggestion that comes at the end of the best post about one of these books.

Oh man, Permutation City is one of those conceptual books that you just have to digest, but it's good. The best word to describe it is philosophysical relativity, the ultimate examination of the statement that there is no privileged point of observation, and once it hits the second half of the book you'd best be ready for some serious shit.
