I've heard there are pdfs that are printable board games (which I'd consider tabletop). They include the game boards, the pieces, and everything else needed to print and play. I have a ton of cardstock and access to some great printers, but I can't seem to find any of these files except for on ebay, and trying torrents comes up with things like PC versions of the board game. Any ideas/help? Thanks!

Do you mean games that are designed to be print-and-play? If so, there are plenty to be found for free on BoardGameGeek.

Or, as I suspect, do you mean scans of actual boxed games, which are only slightly less rare than rocking horse poo? I have built up a small collection of these (game scans, not poo), but most of the time I have simply come across the files when not actually looking for them - I do not have any tried and trusted method for finding them.

Have you been looking for anything in particular? If so, I may be able to help you out (as long as you don't mind waiting a few days) - I would love 7chan's /tg/ to encompass this area more fully.

Well, for instance, I've found the Ticket to Ride board game, with printable versions of resources, so you literally spend about $2 on cardstock, print a few pages in color, put it together, and you have a game that normally costs $50+. As well, there are card games like Dominion that I've seen some scans of, but never in their entirety. I'd be happy to start scanning and providing printable cards for other deck building games (Resident Evil and Tanto Cuore are two I have) but I was hoping to find some sort of "market" for that before I started.

A big thing is just the desire to playtest some games before dropping money on the actual titles. I found Vassal this afternoon and am trying that out, so that may be enough to do it, but I'd love to have resources for different boxed games (ones not normally print and play) so I could print out the more expensive ones and have a copy to take with me.

Anonymous 11/12/01(Thu)09:53 No. 23302

I have a game that I'm developing and if you'd like to playtest it, its print & play.

I've done a bunch of playtesting myself, so the game is balanced, but I'm trying to make sure the rules and style of the game work for everyone before I start really honing it and counting the win percentage of each faction.

Its a grid based game that uses cards for units and terrain. Its about two factions fighting in an undeground cavern while mining the walls around them. I think its pretty sweet, but I guess thats for you to decide.

Would you be interested?

For the sake of what I'm looking for, I'd say that it's not really what I meant. I'll see if I can post some PDF examples later on.

For the sake of the fact that I do love the chance to try any new games, sure, why not. Maybe we can start a print-and-play game thread?

I'm guessing what you're looking for is something akin to:

BattleTech Quick-Start Rules
http://bg.battletech.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/BattleTechQuick-Start-Rules.pdf
OR
BattleForce Quick-Start Rules

Since they contain everything you need to play in printable format. Don't forget there's nothing stopping YOU creating your own pieces.

Picture related: the few boardgame scans I've collected. My upload speed is ... slow, though, so I would prefer to share only those games in which an interest is specifically shown - I am not sure how appropriate it would be actually to make requests outside the Request Thread however. (Mods: I should be grateful if you would let me know if I am splitting hairs and need to carry this on in the Request Thread.)

I also have card games -- most, but not all, being CCGs -- and a few unsorted files, so feel free to ask if there's something not on the list.

Oh, and I would be happy to expand my collection with any contributions made available by other elegan/tg/entlemen.

I made a forum for my game, and you can download it and discuss it there. Right now I only have two factions released, but I'm sitting on a pile of material I'd like to put into the game.

Please report the games you play on this forum, so I can use the information to make any final minor adjustments to the basic rules of the game before I start releasing all of the factions. Right now its Goblins and Dwarves, but soon there will be dark elves, orcs, survivors(humans and elves), giant ants and alternate versions of dwarves and goblins.

Please don't share the files on the internet, and instead just link people to the forum.

Also Someone mention a printable version of Ticket To Ride, Do you think you could Mediafire that?

All fixed sorry guys.

I've been posting a lot of card games pretty much just cause they're easier to share. And on that note here's a really easy cheap game, Seven Dragons.

From the Publisher
Seven Dragons is a fast domino-like game, where players attempt to be the first to create a connected territory of seven panels of their dragon. Secret Goals add the opportunity to bluff, and with aggressive Action cards in the mix, subterfuge is a necessity! Seven Dragons features original paintings by Larry Elmore, the greatest dragon artist in the fantasy industry today!

Legions of Steel BGsharer 11/12/24(Sat)23:52 No. 24062
24062

File 132476716783.jpg - (267.87KB , 1024x732 , pic721065_lg.jpg )

Here it is Global Games Legions of Steel.

From BGG:
It is a squad-based tactical game. One player plays the commandos (typically two squads of 4) and the other player plays the machines (typically one "Mark III Assault Fiend" and a horde of 10 nightmares - skeleton like robots). Whereas in Space Hulk where the marines are slow but have ranged weapons, in LOS everyone has ranged weapons. But the commandos are more accurate, particularly at close range. They have leadership points, similar to Space Hulk, and one heavy weapons trooper with a short range but double-die plasma weapon. The Assault Fiend, for the machine player, is an exception. He moves quickly, takes two hits, and only has short-range weapons, but is very deadly. To add an additional differentiation each unit has grenades. Each commando has a force wall grenade (blocks one tile), and a K-pulse grenade (like a frag but low chance of success). The nightmares use "nachtmacher's" which are like super smoke grenades - they create an area of pitch darkness.

While the basic mechanics are similar to Space Hulk - move and shoot, one hit kills - there are some notable differences. Space Hulk, particularly in the later edition, uses a basic rule set. Other than move and shoot, you can also put a marine into "Overwatch" which allows you to take shots at any target that enters your line of sight. In Legions of Steel the rules are slightly more complex. For example, there are several battletech-ish modifiers to be aware of, such as firing through corners or firing after running. You have "Cover Fire" which is simply delaying your firing action to your opponent's turn - and so you only get one shot. You also have "Suppression Fire" which is more like Overwatch in Space Hulk, except it is a constant stream of fire, no risk of jamming, and more effective. You also have more fire options, such as auto-fire vs. burst fire (a basic mathematical evaluation usually identifies a clear favorite).

Includes Rules, Advanced Rules, Alien Source Book, Base Game Scenarios, All Base Game tiles and Expansions, Tokens, And player model tokens if you're missing the Miniatures.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

I'd just like to say thank you for upping this stuff, so far I've downloaded some of the smaller games (in megabytes and rules) to play with my non/tg/ friends. Probably print the "Lost Patrol" one first and run that with newer miniatures. Without meaning to samefag too much, played Lost Patrol with a /tg/ bro the other night. It's fun and fairly simple once you get past the small and slighty badly-worded rules booklet, and the way the hex Jungle is generated randomly each game is very cool, along with how it grows, reminiscent of "Predator". We had a go as the Scouts and the "Junglemaster" each, but the jungle won both times. Five scouts against infinite (capped at 18 at once) "Lurkers" was hard, especially with how much of a part luck plays in combat.

Totally reccommend a printout and play though, it's a good little game at around 20 mins and 8mb.

And finally (for now), Car Wars. This is the standalone card game and an interesting addition to the Car Wars portfolio. Game-wise it is reported to be slightly disappointing, but I suspect that this is in comparison to expectations engendered by Car Wars proper. As a simple time-filler, this would seem to be perfectly satisfactory. And it's quite hard to find and a small download, to boot.

Good to see someone else playing it. Unless I've somehow read the rules wrong, it's pretty much impossible to win on the dropship, since you could spawn two Lurkers and add two more twice for your three actions on it, meaning you need at least one +1 from either the sergeant or the heavy covering the tile.

Yeah, you're right. The odds are very heavily stacked against the Scouts. It's not uncommon (when I've played) for the Scouts not even to reach the dropship.

The Scouts cannot even use the tactic of simply avoiding combat to have the lurkers 'stuck' (i.e. already played) elsewhere on the board, since even moving the lurker stacks will make some available to the player again. So the dropship stand-off situation will result in the Scouts losing about two-thirds of the time, or more often if they cannot use their Sergeant of Heavy Weapons bonuses.

All this makes the game fun in small doses, but frustrating if played too often - for longevity, don't play as the same side if you play more than one game in a row.

Having said all this, when the Scouts win, it feels great!

... Alright, here it is. Found a fair bit more than this, too, but I only have time to post this for the time being! This iconic game probably needs no introduction to the elegan/tg/entlemen browsing this thread; suffice to say it's a good laugh to play the first few times, even if the humour does become a little stale after prolonged play. Worth checking out if you haven't come across it before.

Not a problem. I don't know to what extent the roleplaying game may be compatible with the card game, but they definitely share the same humour.

Anyway, here's the first expansion to the base Munchkin game, which I understand amounts simply to some extra cards.

>>23794 A strategy game that was turned into the very famous computer game

Pay no attention to this fucking idiot. Civilization the board game and Civilization the computer game are/were two very different things. The sad fact that they had the same name is what destroyed Avalon Hill, the premier wargame manufacturer of the time.

Avalon Hill had spotted the original design at a European game convention, bought the rights, made some changes, and published a fairly successful board game which then spawned an expansion known as Advanced Civilization.

A few years later a company called Micropose released a computer game also called Civilization which was something rather different. While there was no link between the two games other than the name, Avalon Hill sued to keep the name Civilization to themselves and they were winning that suit until Hasbro bought out Microprose.

When Hasbro's lawyers looked into the suit, they realized that it would be cheaper to BUY Avalon Hill and shut it down than to pay the damages so that's exactly what they did.

Wow, you sound quite bitter, there. And the way you sound so certain about those events - care to disclose your vested interest?

Apologies if an innocent misunderstanding makes me a fucking idiot, especially since it is arguable that I am at least partly correct. So the computer game was not the official version of the board game, but it was linked in name, theme and Sid Meier's admission that the board game was one of the "ingredients" of the computer game.

You're welcome.

Catan - the Videogame

It's only 7mb and really easy to "crack", basically it's just a java version of the boardgame, allowing you to play the classic game against AIs

Some more from the GW stable: a couple of old games released as Print and Play - just add dice and (a few) miniatures.

First, Bommerz Over da Sulphur River, a simple game for 1-5 players. "The Imperial reconquest of Rynn’s World was not going well. The 15th Imperial Army under Commissar-General Mordrid Van Horcic had finally broken through the Hellblade mountains after months of fighting against the alien Ork invaders. The battle now spilled into the thousand mile-long Desolation Valley. The Sulphur River that divided Desolation Valley into two halves was impassable
except at a few bridges that remained across it. After more bloody fighting, Imperial Space Marines captured the bridges so that the Imperial forces could continue their attack. Within hours, crude Ork Fighta-Bommerz were hurtling up the valley to try and bomb the vital bridges into oblivion."

"There are two things that all Orks love, a pint of fungus beer and a good punch up! Now both are combined in the Brewhouse Bash game. Will you be the last Ork standing or will you get pounded into the floor by your mates?" For any number of players, but reportedly the more the merrier. Pic related: a fan-made player-aid from BoardGameGeek, instead of the usual box cover.

Nice, I already have the version GW put up in that short series of scanned old games they had on the website (think they also did Dark Future, Gorkamorka, the original Mighty Empires and The Battle for Armageddon, not sure what else).

Guncrawl and Wormhole annonymous 12/02/08(Wed)04:03 No. 25467

Would anyone happen to have any files for the Print and Play Wormhole and/or Guncrawl? or for that matter any of the models that worldworksgames makes?

I have one or two of the expansions to Guncrawl somewhere and have been looking for the full board and rules as well as anything else that WorldWorksGames sells, especially Wormhole.

I can post up the expansion as soon as I find it in my backups. Even if it doesn't have the game rules, the models could easily be used for the Spacehulk, Lost Patrol, and several of the other games workshop boardgames that got posted already.

I do not know, but imagine it will be card with a thickness of, maybe, 120 g/sm? The biggest difficulty will be getting the right finish, though, as aren't playing cards usually covered with some sort of protective covering?

Or could card sleeves be used...?

The links to other sites in the right-hand column are well worth looking at. If I remember rightly, Neodroid's site in particular has a fair bit of print-and-play gaming goodness in the vein of remakes/improvements of existing games (also, IIRC, with a Spanish bias).
