Honestly, this game is dissapointing because it isn't dissapointing at all.
Fuck me, I wanted to hate this game. I really did. It shits on a series which basically built my foundations of what I want in a video game. The characters are bad, yeah. The writting is shit, yeah. The music is unfitting? Not anymore it isn't. It's more like the setting doesn't fit itself. Like a demonic power-fuelled wannabe hipster forced itself unto a Dubstep Festival. The story's pretty shit too... But the combat. It's so addictive. And so EASY. Now, this might be bad for most of the people that indulged themselves by getting SSS in DMC3, which was relatively hard.
In this game, you'll most likely have a constant S or SS on the screen. The recovery frames for your Rebellion attacks are practically unexistant, and you can fucking cancel EVERYTHING into a dodge-roll... So, no getting hit anymore, if you're actually looking at the screen and not at the lensflare it emits. The controls are really well thought, they feel natural, they don't strain you in any way if you're a gamer that easily adapts.
Just- ... Bravo Ninja Theory. You picked up an already god like series, and made a good game. I hope you're proud of yourselves, 'cause quite frankly... I'm disgusted. You had everything in your hands to make a great game, and it shows that the final product is quite satisfactory... But you didn't have to shit on the fanbase to do so. You didn't have to put all the achievements and challenges named after quotes from previous Devil May Cry games, shoving it in our faces that it is a Devil May Cry game, but it actually isn't. You didn't have to make snarky jokes about Dante not wanting to have long hair, and whatnot.
You just did everything you could to make everyone hate you. And your game along with it.
There is no salvation for this game. This surprisingly entertaining and polished game. Atleast I hope they'll go back to the real Dante. I just hope.
