Tell us about that game that you love but nobody plays. Bonus points if it's abandonware or free

I think i should start:

Red Eclipse

A FREE (not P2W) and open source fast paced arena FPS. Has a parkour system (i heard that it was similar to Titanfall, but i haven't played it). Every weapon has two different shot attacks (you can even use a sword).

The game is like 5 years old and it's currently in 1.5.6 version.

It has a small but nice community. But right now, almost a lot of people left and just play every now and then. So i think it's the best time to start playing for new people.

I pitched an idea to the creators about creating more gameplay videos to attract more people (because the ones on youtube barely showcased the gameplay capabilities of this game), and i made some simple videos with some gameplay i recorded in a couple of hours. So please don't judge them harshly (WATCH THEM AT LEAST AT 480P OR 720P 60 FPS, they look disgusting on lower res).

>Rifle + Shotgun showcase
https://www.youtube.comwatch?v=2wQS2aceaA4 (yeah, sorry for the music)

>Another video with more weapon variety

>Sword showcase

>A playlist with more RE videos i made

Also on Desura and Itch

Fun fact. Microsoft used it to showcase a technology they were working on:

Renegade-X the Command & Conquer FPS remade.

Classes, tanks, building capture/destruction and both teams have completely different styles of play that are well balanced.

Not many FPS can compete with it, but it's always been an obscure hit and now there's only 1 or 2 servers full at any given time, granted that's 20 players per side but considering the original was released in 2002 it's nice to know it's still going.

As a bonus the mods are kinda like ours, strict enforcers of the rules and rather happy on the ban-cannon.

One of the last best PC RPGs made before developers lost their minds in the transition to isometric perspectives and tossed gameplay in the gutter to focus on storytelling. It's freeware too now, check it out.

Are you comparing this to later Spiderweb games or to later RPGs in general? I don't know that the Avernum games are so bad. More info please.

Also, start at the first game or jump into the third?

16/11/28(Mon)08:01 No. 144765 ID: b75f8b

Later PC RPGs in general. But yes, Jeff's isometric games have been comparatively disappointing too.

I'd say start with Exile: Escape from the Pit and see if you can tolerate the lack of spell menu shortcuts. If you can't, feel free to jump to Exile II, the world is mostly a remix of the first game anyway.

I know about red eclipse

Cool arena shooter, did only play for 30 minutes or so.

I have to go for CDDA.
It's an ASCII rogue like set in an post apocalyptic world with zombies. Sounds super generic but the depth of this game is amazing. Your character has health for head, torso and each limb, stamina and feels pain which debuffs heavily when in strong pain. He gets tired depending on what you're doing. There's a morale system that's influenced by listening to music, killing child zombies, good food, bad weather etc. Morale influences the exp system and very strong moods can even affect stats.
You need to keep him slaked and nourished but don't think about just eating junk food you find in the abandoned towns. There's now a vitamin system and shitty food makes you catch diseases faster.

There's an encumbrance system for clothing/armor that's affected by how you layer it.

There's shitloads of weapons both existing and fictional with many different ammo types (hot loads, fmj, hollow point, slugs/flechette for shotguns) and loads of gun mods like sights, grips, stocks etc.
You can even keep spent casings and reload them.

There's a mutation and bionic system. You can go full cybord mode and cut an arm off for a plasma gun powered by your internal generator that runs on alcohol. Targeting systems for your eyes, tool sets in your forearms, steel plating as skin, hydraulic muscles.

Mutations are divided into animal categories and plants. You can become a tree person that gets nourishment from sunlight with bark skin or a werewolf with talons and super strong muscles and night vision.

Then there's vehicles and their customisation. You can repaird broken cars and turn them into Mad Max mobiles with spiked plating, mounted flamethrowers and multiple engines. Or build your solar powered, mobile home with a bed, kitchen and water tank.

That's not even all there is to it but it's still in development and new stuff gets added as you read this.

Holy shit guys if you have a PS4 download QURARE MAGIC FUCKING LIBRARY it's a pay-to-win game but hear me out, it's Temple Run with tits and a card game at the end. The story actually has some decent jokes and the collecting cards is addictive as fuck. I'm actually debating spending five bucks on fucking gems. The running part is actually pretty fun too but the card game is the payoff for sure. Also you can upgrade your cards (but being p2w it takes like fifty fucking cards and you get one a match) and it takes some of their clothes off. If you're a pervert and like animue at all you should fucking love this at least until you start falling behind and have to grind a big. I keep telling myself to play something better but still log in for the free bonus and shit and end up playing for three hours.

For some reason I love this but can't get into quake live. Quake's movement is really hard to learn compared to Xonotic.

There are a lot of attractive games. For example, World of warships. It is free-to-play MMO action that allows you to plunge into the world of large-scale naval battles. Take control of the legendary warships of the first half of the twentieth century and conquer the domination of the vast ocean space. This game recommended my one of my friends. But sometimes the game was glitched in such cases I used proxy here https://buy.fineproxy.org/eng/exclusive.html i think proxy tool is useful thing during web surfing.

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is awesome, but really hard. It’s not only ASCII anymore and has different tile sets. Which makes the beginning easier.

But for beginner of the roguelike genre I would recommend Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. https://crawl.develz.org/ It also have a tile set and is a little bit easier. You still die a lot, but in this genre it’s normal and fun.

There is also a roguelike version of Doom, which I didn’t played yet. https://drl.chaosforge.org/

Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire
You slice up baddies with a sword that is made of fire and also a dragon. Defeating bosses lets you form various parts of a dragon (such as wings) out of fire.
I would't really say I love it, but it's certainly bearable enough to entertain you for a bit.
