Hey /w/. Not sure where else I'd go to ask this question but is it possible to get a copy of a firearm receipt? I lost mine and I'd like a copy of it. If I gave Big 5 (that's where I got it) a call would they still have it on record that I bought it?

>pic kind of unrelated

Legally they have to keep a record of the sale in the event that you go on a rampage and you claim they gave you the gun or other such cases where they want to be detached from responsibility. They may claim they can't which is BS for "I can't be bothered".

Im not sure if your area has a push to see certain weapons targeted for legislation into extinction.
Is there any truth to these stories I am reading that the federal government has shipped or sold weapons to "militant civilians" worldwide for years now? I wonder if those weapons were stripped-down versions of what the current ideal of 1o rounds of semi-automatic firepower.
It would be nice to know that military spec'd selectable fire weapons with 20 -30 round magazines weren't leaving the country faster than the U.S. citizen can surrender them.
So what would /w/ do if his hardware were outlawed?

Does he bring it in or register it?
Does he keep them and hide them?
Does he lose it or have it stolen somehow?

First off, thanks to anyone who reads the entire post and responds with something knowledgeable.

My question is about stainless steel. I don't need a bunch of percentages from Wikipedia about different grades. Dumb it down for me please. To the questions.

1. Should I assume that just because it is stamped with the word "stainless" stuff made in China might not be?
2. The magnetism question. Could someone really dumb this down for me.

Most 'stainless' knifes ship with an oil film and in plastic. I know that stainless *can* surface rust. I'm just confused about the whole thing. I know that magnets won't attract to some stainless. I'm really hoping someone can explain all this shit to me in a really dumbed down way. Again, simply quoting percentages of chromium wont really help me get my mind around it. Thanks.

Sarah Palin 13/02/22(Fri)01:26 No. 14564

If you are looking for a personal blade why go cheap? If you are planning on reselling the cheaper blades go ahead.
So now I dumb it down...
Instead of speculating whether the quality of your steel is adequate, just buy something U.S. or German made and you should be okay.

>>
Sarah Palin 13/03/01(Fri)18:14 No. 14578

Honestly, you just kind of have to look into each specific steel or possibly that kind of steel from a certain manufacturer as they may have different ways of treating their steels.

To answer your questions:
1. Generally the stuff that just says "stainless" is crap but it can vary from knife to knife. Normally they are stainless though, even if they are crap.
2. I've heard that too but I don't think its that true as I've had good stainless knives stick to a magnet before. It may have been true with stainless steels used a long time ago but I don't think you can generally say that nowadays.

hey guys, a friend wants to trade me this antique marlin lever action 30/30 for my tattoo equipment (valued around $200), is this worth it?

>>
Sarah Palin 13/03/01(Fri)14:31 No. 14575

Could be a close call. Here in CT I got that gun in much better condition for ~$500.
You have to factor in the worn away bluing, wood work and polish. Do some research on Marlin 336.
If it shoots, I would go with yes but I have no value in a tattoo gun.

I recently came into a Mosin-Nagant in decent condition. Whatever the previous owner had used to lubricate the mechanisms with was some dark brown, amber-ish colored gunk that looked like it was really ready to be cleaned off and replaced. It looked like some sort of very poorly refined oil. I've cleaned the entire mechanism and only about half way through began to wonder if there was a particular point in this gunk.

Now that I've cleaned it off and oiled it down, I've come to the opinion that the bolt is a bit harder to operate than it was before I cleaned it. I'm wondering if maybe this thicker grease was partially to help offset the grinding of the bolt caused by a particularly sturdy spring. So what does /w/ use to oil their Mosin-Nagant to keep the bolt loose?

PS, there's an empty slot for what looks like a rod in the wooden body under the barrel. Was this rod used to force out stuck shells, or did it have some other purpose? How retarded would it be to mount a laser sight in there?

op that gunk is called cosmoline, it's a preservative. Strip the gun down, break the bolt into it's separate components, then wipe all the metal parts with mineral spirits. Also send several tags with mineral spirits down the barrel. Afterwards just put regular gun oil on it and reassemble
That hole in the front is for a cleaning rod

>>
Sarah Palin 13/02/16(Sat)03:16 No. 14560

Thanks for all the responses. I got the cosmoline out, cleaned it up. I took it out to the range a few times, put about a hundred or so rounds through it all told, cleaning it out each time. Fires like a champ, but the angle and stiffness of the extractor closing over the cartridges makes closing the bolt over a fresh round a little unpleasant.

I've got a big box of corrosive ammo, so I'm using Hoppe's 9 Copper Solvent and Froglube to take care of the bore and firing chamber. What does /w/ use for corrosive ammo?

>>
Sarah Palin 13/02/18(Mon)23:20 No. 14563

>What does /w/ use for corrosive ammo?
At the range, carry a bottle of Windex. After shooting and letting things cool down a bit remove the bolt and spray the hell out of the inside of the barrel. Take home, disassemble and flush the crud out with hot or boiling water. Then clean and lube normally.

Hello /w/

I live in Maryland. When times got tough (read as I lost my job about 6 years ago) I sold about 60% of my collection to dealers and other collectors. I do not have a FFL or collectors license, just a regular "Joe" who loves to go plinking and enjoys being an American with the right to own firearms. Anyways, got back on my feet a few years ago and started to fill my collection back in. Recently, I attempted to purchase a Spikes Tactical lower in 5.56 from a auction and when I went to my FFL they told me that NO ONE in Maryland is doing any transfers right now...... WTF ?!?!?! He could not give me a straight answer as to "why"....
My question is this : does anyone know "why" this is, and secondly does anyone know of any FFL dealers in Maryland that are accepting transfers of assault weapons ? Any other states going through the same bullshit ?

Thanks for the help bros...

Also - Martin O'Malley ( Our Governor ) is the biggest faggot in the history of Governors. I believe that he is introducing his new assault weapons ban bill on Feb 6th 2013 and the only reason he is taking this stance is because he is running for President in 2016.

not true, I had already set up a purchase of a lower from a guy in Texas with a bunch of them for sale, and when I went to my gun shop, they informed me that no one was accepting transfers. Its not due to "lack of lowers" its the scared ass public and retarded ass government. On a side note, went to a gun show yesterday and while there were no lowers there, I did get a great deal on 30rd mags and some Hornady 60 grain V-MAX for my AR. I decided to buy an 80% lower in .308 and finish it myself. I will upload pics when it comes.

Because people are panic buying over a double dose of AWBs. Paperwork is backed up so far that it isn't worth doing regular transfers vs. what is sold in shop.

What I do is grab the grip with my main hand so that the middle finger does the most squeezing and the thumb loosely points towards the target. Then I wrap my support hand around the grip so the meaty part by my thumb covers the bare part of the grip and the fingers overlap. Again, both thumbs don't contact the frame or slide but point at the target and the middle fingers do most of the squeezing. That way both hands are pretty high up on the grip to control recoil while keeping thumbs from brushing against the slide or safety or anything else important.

Basically, like this guy (Dave Sevigny).
