America is $20 trillion in the hole federally with several states digging holes of their own. We have 10-20 years before the collapse. The recession

What are the best multi-purpose/versatile guns/calibers?

Best balances of
Stopping power/hunting
Prices (gun, ammo acquisition pre-collapse/post-collapse)

Looking at 9mm and 357mag carbines/rifles atm; cheap ammo, decently usable to 100yds, shares ammo with sidearm to make stockpiles easier and cheaper

Beretta CX4 Storm + 92/96 or PX4
Henry Big Boy All-Weather .357 + Ruger GP100 stainless

Mossberg 590a1 Mariner 12ga shotgun might also be good; use bird shot on birds/small game, slugs for out to 100yds, buck shot for CQC.
Unfortunately ammo is bulkier and more expensive

The recession had global effects; I imagine collapse will cause great chaos and suffering.
