>What if raiders or other sadistic fucks use these sigils to set traps though?
A): Always be cautious. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. B): If you're really paranoid, uniquely customize or encrypt the sigils for your unit (or just initial them, like the poster suggests). C): Make a name for yourself by killing all the raiders and bandits you come across. I dare you. Dont be a pussy bro. I'll be doing it. Keepin it alpha.
>Lets say you're in a safe house and get overrun by zombies. There's no time to make a sigil as you escape, so the next survivor that comes along sees the "safehouse" sigil and thinks that your place is safe when it's actually zed-infested.
A): How hard is it to make a big 'X' on your way out?(assuming you already made the sigil to mark your shelter) It also depends on where the sigil is. Sure you may not have been able to 'X' out the one on the front door, but what about all the ones on the trail leading up to it? After you escape you may end up doubling back through there, at which time it would be polite to cross them out for future travelers. B): Just because a sign says an area is safe doesn't mean you (or the next guy) can't do a security sweep of it. This is some real shit in the zombie wasteland with niggas eatin each other. Take nothing for granted and don't be lazy.
>Finally, what will you use to make the sigil visible?
I want something convenient, like chalk or a fat-tipped sharpie. They're quick, easy to use, and can be carried in your pocket (put the chalk in a cigar tube). Spray paint is kinda bulky, even those half cans, although you gain the benefit of highly visible brightly colored paint. You could just use some caution tape or ribbon tied to a nearby tree, fence, etc to help it stand out.
