Who needs a safe house? Coax as many zombies as possible into following you and lead them all into a large warehouse or sturdy structure. Leave through the back door, seal that and the front doors up, and trap the hoard in the building behind you. Repeat as often as necessary around various venues. A decent sized warehouse can hold hundreds of infected at once.

Congratulations. The zombies will complacently hang around these prisons for the rest of their unlife, whilst you can make the most of the (mostly) emptied district.

Yeah, but... What if you get trapped/surrounded?
It's a high-risk operation, and you'll need a lot of people in case you need to get pulled out or abort the procedure.

Nice one OP, I almost pissed myself with laughter.

I just envisaged some hapless individual wandering around a 'deserted' city, opening a building for supplies and unleashing a swarm upon himself.

I understand the concept, but not the point. I thought you were leading into some scenario about how this becomes useful but no.

I'd let them out after making a line of boards that go all the way around and going along with a piece of meat on a fishing pole line until near the exit, around wherever you live OP, directing them and telling them to FLY, FLY MY PRETTIES

why? because you ruined the fun

Having say, 50 undead pound on a wall all at the same time might topple the thing, depending on the size and strength of the warehouse walls. it isn't smart.

most modern warehouses(last 30 years) are ibeam construction with either a steel or concrete facade so they'd take a zed crowd rather well, problem is once you're on top unless you have the ammo and supplies to take the crowd out you're not going anywhere.

Youtube  see: crowd of zombies in front of one set of doors

see: another, smaller set of doors on the other end of warehouse

see: spot run, see: zombies chase, see: someone hiding with an easily accessible route down but not up unless you're smart

see: zombies get lured in and have both doors shut on the majority of the horde

see: me sneaking around later making a cattle-run type thing with a fishing pole for a bunch of the zombies warehouses ending up being congregated at OP's house, string and a slab of meat to lure the zombies to OP's house and then run like hell to a line of gasoline that I light and then keep running, thereby leaving them stranded with lots of zombies milling about

I know it's a shitty idea of mine, but OP said I could do what I want with the district

And then when you circle the building to close the front door, you find a large group of them standing around outside because they were too dumb to continue following you into the building after losing sight of you.

If they're dumb enough to herd like that, they're dumb enough to foil the most carefully laid plans.

that's why you use the big doors to let them in, not the small one lol

Nothing is idiot proof, and I can't think of anything more idiotic than a zombie.

"It is impossible to make anything foolproof, because fools are so ingenious." --Robert Heinlein

Or as I prefer.

Just when you make it idiot proof, God makes a bigger idiot.

you've certainly made your point if it was about 7chan being called foolproof

or were you talking about shambling mouthbreathers who let out noncoherent sounds and are easily led around by clever individuals?

Ever heard the phrase "never underestimate your enemy"? Well, neither should you overestimate your own abilities.
