Does Trump know that he now has the power to veto bills? It feels scary right now because of the ambiguity that comes with his election. He is inexperienced and has never dealt with political matters before.

Trump has stated that there are several issues he feels should be left up to the states, but what happens if the Republicans manage to pass a bill that damages the country yet manages to convince Trump that it will make America great again.

The beautiful part is that in such a likely scenario then the Republicans have someone to direct the blame toward. Hopwfully, Trump's focus with his name brand, pun intended, is enough from letting the U.S. House and Senate damage his family name.

>They'll spend the next 4-8 years blaming Obama for everything they fuck up in the next 4-8 years.
That's how politics work. You spend the first 2-3 years trying to fix the shit the previous administration put in place, and your final year setting up things to shit on the next administration.

Why do you think the only presidents that have made progress have served two terms. It's because they know how to fix the shit they created during their 1st term allowing them to spend more time doing their actual job.

President 16/12/23(Fri)15:41 No. 974

I'm actually curious now if he could. Of course, the american people are highly unlikely to vote for someone who wasn't born in the US. I guess it hinges on how you interpret the comma between "States" and "at".

I think the intention was to have this phrase:
>or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution
Include non-natural born citizens residing in the newly created republic--which would still have been a significant percentage of the colonial population at that time. Some of the first presidents were actually born in the UK, but resided in the US at the time the constitution was adopted.

If you interpret that comma as closing the clause initiated by the comma between "Citizen" and "or" then "at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution" also applies to "natural born" citizens, which is sort of redundant in that it would mean no one from anywhere could be president until the constitution were adopted.

First Amendment Endangered? President 16/11/17(Thu)06:57 No. 733 [Reply]

File 147936224729.jpg - (44.98KB , 450x390 , first amendment.jpg )

Can someone please explain to me why pushing to pass laws in favor of one specific religious ideology isn't considered unconstitutional as they could end up forcing their ideals on other religious people who do not share that religion? The first amendment guarantees that we have the freedom to practice any religion we should choose. Laws prohibting same-sex marriage, for example, feels unconstitional to me because the people who are not in favor of it most likely aren't due to religious reason. As far as I am aware, nobody made a law saying that a religious institution HAS to marry two men or two women, but going to the state-level and banning it out of religious reason? How is this not forcing that religious ideology onto other people?

What concerns me about this next administration isn't Donald J. Trump, or the majority of Republicans, or even the fact that things are messy right now, but what I am afraid of most of all are the few Republicans who happen to be Evangelicals looking to completely disrespect the first amendment and pass laws only benefiting their religious ideology, which will most likely be any Christian branches. This fear worsens when you realize that "Islamophobia" is a hot topic right now and would most certainly be used as a way to completely defecate on the Constitution.

I always hear right wingers, such as Alex Jones, worry about losing their freedom of expression as well as losing their second amendment rights. Yet when it comes to issues such as this they seem to be all for overturning the first amendment. Please tell me there isn't a chance that the Evangelicals cannot do any long lasting damage to the United States of America?

This is how soft-minded people are: he met with the president of Mexico, at a press rally, and it looked presidential. None of Trump's opponents had the audacity to stage such a show.

They could have talked about anything or nothing at all; they didn't need to agree whatsoever on any issue so long as they didn't come to blows on camera. The content of their discussion was always irrelevant. The purpose was to demonstrate Trump standing behind a podium on a stage with another world leader and talking as if the two of them had done something meaningful for their respective countries.

I wonder how much Donald paid for the arrangements. As much as he made lip service that he intended to discuss the wall and repatriation of undocumented migrants, it wouldn't surprise me if Trump also conciously took advantage of a politician who bribes easily and on the cheap to change his reputation among hispanic americans.

Also, looking forward to this precedent in future presidential elections.

President 16/12/07(Wed)22:17 No. 890

No really, abortion. Central and South Americans are much more religious than North Americans, and in particular more likely to be Catholic, which means they hold very conservative views on abortion rights.

I would not be surprised at all if most of Trump's voting bloc were similar single-issue voters. Ignore everything except the one thing you think is absolutely vital.

Fuck whats best for country, I need to make sure the neighbor's daughter can't abort the child my son puts in her belly.

This President-Elect has me afraid that the prediction that America will become less free may finally come to pass. And that this image of the country with a chain and lock will become accurate. The Republicans seem like they only care about themselves and others within the upper class. Like they want to eliminate the lower and middle classes. Suddenly, Capitalism feels like one big pyramid scheme.

Not just online, but everywhere, especially on a resume. Like a well-padded bra, a well-padded resume will get you noticed, and usually no one pays much attention to how you stack up in reality until it's far too late.

Is anyone else a little crept out that Donald Trump supporters act as if they are a fucking cult?

Oh look, Starbucks has new holiday cups with nothing Christmas-y on them, even though the colors are more or less red, green, and white! Christmas colors! Two of which are the usual colors for the Starbucks brand. I know what I could do out of protest for something so ridiculously retarded! I'll demand they write the Trump name on my coffee cup! Take that establishment! Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!

Have we as a society become this stupid?

Why do I get the feeling that Trump is (still) a secret democrat?

President 16/11/19(Sat)07:20 No. 770

It would be amusing if he really was a populist. And like many of his supporters from the 'flyover' states, honestly sick of BOTH parties.

President 16/12/02(Fri)09:53 No. 835

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to fit the 'narrative' the media are still promoting.

Good thing the legacy media are slowly fading away.

What happens when Trump refuses to concede President 16/10/29(Sat)06:27 No. 592 [Reply]

File 147771522262.jpg - (41.17KB , 960x960 , makeamericahateagain.jpg )

Q: What happens when a presidential candidate doesn’t concede?
A: As per the Constitution, each candidate is allowed to take their supporters and start a new country.

Q: Why might Trump refuse to concede?
A: While experts are divided, a lifetime spent never hearing the word “no” from anyone is probably a good guess.

Q: Is there a danger violence could break out?
A: Thankfully, only if Trump displays a tendency toward inciting his supporters to extreme anger.

Q: Could there be rioting?
A: Not technically, since the individuals causing property damage and starting fires will most likely be white.

Q: Should I be worried?
A: If you haven’t already been horrified for the last 16 months, there’s probably no point in starting now.

I have a degree in business and I'd rather work at McDonald's. It just seems kind of relaxing being in the back cooking the food using all of the different mechanical devices to ensure the customers are taken care of. My fellow employees used to hate me because they hated their work and yet I went in every day with a smile and refused a promotion to an office job. My nickname became, "Spongebob Squarepants".

That's because a degree in business is so useless that it wouldn't even qualify you for a job at McDonalds.

Before or after he's president?

If it's before he'll use it to fundraise as an example of the liberal media not giving him a fair break.

If its after he'll write an executive order requiring them to not delete his account. Republicans like to say they're different, but they're not... in most cases they're demonstrably worse.

It looks like the Trump administration has a new website where you can send in your concerns. It doesn't look like it has to pertain to any specific thing.

Not sure if this is a scam, but it does have a .gov domain name.
