Let's go back a year. Winter anime started with some endings, as the first seasons of Iruma-kun and Slimeyboi were finishing up, only to supposedly resume in 2021, barring any unforseen chinese viruses.
Yeah, it's Chinese. Wanna fight? Bring your Pooh Bear leader, we'll get great leader from Best Korea to whup his ass.
I dunno if there were many Chiname shows in 2020, if so I missed them
Worst Korea apparently won the hearts of every hipster d-bag anime fan, who just couldn't stop gushing over Tower of Meh and FightFightFight club. I got through the first 5 minutes of Tower, realized I didn't like the artwork, and into the dropped zone it went.
I had better things to watch.

Okay, better? Yeah, I want to watch what I know I'll enjoy, not what overwhelming public response is. I'll burn that bandwagon down if I find it coming near.
What was better? Well, for one thing, the best show of the year was in winter. Not only was Keep Your Hands Off Eizoken the best story, the most interesting animation (okay, the character design was a bit lacking, but I loved the plot, and it has one of the best soundtracks since the first (2007) Yozakura Quartet. I loved that show, but haven't re-watched it yet, go figure.
Most folks might want to let you think Ishuzoku Reviewers was the best. It wasn't bad. The stories were pretty deep at times, for anyone thinking it was nothing but a hentai. Watching the uncensored version wasn't bad, though I've seen hotter anime tiddies.
The I'm Overpowered but only in defense so don't hurt me-because you can't wasn't bad. Glad I didn't see the botched Funi version. That would totally suck ass....with a slurpee straw.

But there was another few shows that I really enjoyed, and wanted to enjoy.
The latter was the loli who you just wanted to keep close to you, not because you're into lolis, but because there was a good chance she might have gotten all et up. Somali-chan was a nifty watch, a bit morbid at times, and there were plenty of times I just wanted to kick her myself, like going for a 50 yard field goal. Cute, but brainless characters. Then again, kids will be kids. Unless you have a wayfair cabinet.
Railgun 3 was light years better than that fiasco of Index 3. Plus, it has my favorite episode of any anime of the year. They were canon with the manga, and when S4 of it arrives, if I'm breathing, I'll watch it.

Then there were the silly damn shows that if you took them at all seriously, you need to leave this board.

Heya Camp was a damn tease. Thankfully Yuru2 starts soon. the REAL Yurus.
Neokpara was a waste of time. I got halfway through, realized there's no uncensored version of the anime and said goodbye to you-nyow.
Teenage lesbian astro-earth sicence club I made it through, won't re-watch though. Fine if you got time to kill and think you'll learn something (you wont).
There's other shows that I've conveniently forgotten for now, but the last two of the Winter season, I liked maybe too much. Hatena Illusion, The main character and her maid were so freaking hot, I about set my boxers on flame. But the most fun I had this season, hands down, Murenase Seton Gakuen.
If that show didn't get a chuckle out of you, may you look good for the undertaker, because-you daid.

And we got another season of Yatogame chan. S3 comeing up! hard to pass on a show that's a whole 2 minutes of fun.

Oh, and in case anyone is new to this part of the interwebs, no, I don't watch shonen. I stay away from many sports anime, and super popular stuff ain't my bag either.
I don't need to watch that stuff, there's plenty of people who will waste my time with the details that I have no interest in.

Social distancing? feh. That's my freaking life, I got that down before there ever was a pandemic.

Well, hot damn, we made it out of the cold months, and now to spring when everything starts glowering, it's baseball season again, I got my vacation in, and all was right with the world.

Am I saying this whole thing was a hoax? No. I know a few people who got it, and were the lucky few of the 99.8% of the survivability. Why was I not concerned? A) I take precautions. Basic precautions. B) I don't live in a big city or a retirement community (Someone wanna tell Gov. Cuomo that he essentially killed more people than 9/11?), C) I don't have a social life to distance from and 4) the best part-I don't watch tv. I don't give a shit about any western media. I'm an anime fan. I am safe.
But this season had causalties, and a few shows I was watching the first 3 eps, went on hiatus. Pussies.
Fortunately, there was still plenty I did watch and enjoy.
Soma kun was still cooking, but the last few arcs were a bit lame. Why add people so late if you're just headed toward the finish line?
Hamefura was way better than expected. An Otome game isekai wasn't what I thought would be good. I was wrong, Doubtful it will get a second season, I wonder if there'll be a fandisc (fandiscs, the only good thing about Little Busters, which still rag on years later).
Gleipnir. Woah. A drama that I enjoyed. yeah, the characters were odd, and many of which were not really necessary. But the plot held up, and if this was a one-and-done season show, I'll live with that.
I know I said earlier that I don't watch sports anime, well at least usually. But for some reason, I really got into Tamayomi. The art was bad, the character design was lacking, the animation was laughable. But since baseball got yeeted for awhile, it was just amusing enough to keep my attention. Plus, like the main character, when I played, I threw some of the worst junk imaginable. I was throwing knuckeballs when I was 12. Which was a year AFTER I mastered the spitball. Never got caught!
Plus, girls in baseball unis has always been a turn on.
Maybe I should have gone to /unf? for this.

A few returnees arrived...again.
Seeing more of Bookworm-chan still warms my heart, and I think there's more to come. Haven't seen any announcement yet, but they can't leave this hanging for too long.

Plus, we got another season of Tsugumomo. A not so lighthearted season either. Was I pissed about loli-chan doing the sudden power up/growth spurt? Not really, but what happened then-yeah, I was not a happy camper. S3 Down the pike? I didn't even know the S2 was a thing until the season started.

Then, we get to the real good stuff.

Thankfully a few shows had no delay.
One was something I was really looking forward to. If you were around here 10 years or so ago, you would have seen my limitless screeds about Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei. Still one of my all time favorite series. I know Koji Kumeta worked on other shows, which I enjoyed as well, but I wasn't quite ready for Kakushigoto. yes, the humor was in the same vein that I always liked. I enjoyed seeing old characters with new roles. But the pathos? Wow, this really did a number on my emotions, something an anime rarely does. But overall, definitely something I am glad I didn't skip.
But the best of this season? Nami yo Kiitekure. A show about a radio show that's done on the fly. The characters, especially the lead were fantastic, and watching-and listening to her machine gun rants on the air was great. I've done radio before, if you're not ready for it, stay out. I took to it like a fish to water. Then, when I went to find a real job in it-I found out that I'd been blacklisted.
"Cannot stick to a playlist". Guilty as charged. For the past 2+ decades, I've worked in a record store. Like I need radio.,
But damn this show might be a bit hard to take if you're unaware. Don't look for action, listen to the dialogue, or I guess read the dialogue. I don't think this will get an overseas release. but the subtitles were good enough.
Second season though? Doubtful.

I mean, it's not like anyone's reading this drivel anyway, but I shall continue to prove my worthlessness.

Well well well, we made it to summer! The skies are bright, the heat is on, and I'm about to get myself a new (to me) car. My last one hwarfed up it's transmission in April, so old ass, grayhaired moi was on a bicycle for 3+ months. Hot as hell, but I got into the best shape i've been in since high school Surprisingly, the weight did not return. So, all was well.
Didn't miss a day of work this year, yeah, it's a record store-not exactly a necessary business. But the bulk of the business is mail order and someone's gotta get the mail out, so missed time? Nah, that's for suckers. I like my job.
But the summer anime, well the choices were a bit on the slim side. I had 3 that I started, and dropped 2, 3 and 5 eps in. The horrible HXEros, that for a hentai was dull as dishwater, the Monster Musume ripoff that proved that imitation isn't the sincerest form of flattery, when the show was worse than watching squirrels raid my bird feeder. At least I can use a bb gun on those. Using one on my computer screen might have caused a few issues.
Then, there was Peter Grill. Congratulations, studio who ever produced this crap. You actually made a couple of hot Oni gals come off as being intolerable. Well, at least Slimeyboi will re-start soon. Good grief, this was a fustercluck of mammoth proportions.

Fortunately, it wasn't ALL bad.
I liked Uzaki chan enough to start the manga. The show was harmless, and enjoyable. But the best part was watching all these pusswads on social media melt down about everything.
I wonder how they feel when they find out there's an S2 on the way. Those tears of salt will taste mighty fine. I'll have the popcorn ready.

Whew! Finally the few casualties of the Spring season made a reappearance. Railgun finished up, Appare Ranman was possibly one of the best shows ever about an autist who somehow wacky races across a country he didn't know, and...

The summer also blessed us with the best bad anime of the year, possibly of the millenium, so far.
Maou Gakuin blablabla, completely blindsided me. Another overpowered main character who just can't lose, probably even if he wanted to. Adding in a pair of sisters who are hotter than any 3D gril could be, and a pair of parents who damn near steal the show whenever they're on screen.
You missed this? How? Why? You can't take retarded fun? Why are you even here?

Well, we finally made it to the fall season.
I have a confession to make. I only started 9 shows this season. Not a bad amount, and most all have been enjoyable. But-I still haven't finished. I've had tons of work, i'm busier than ever on ebay, and i've become addicted to some live streams, the reasons for which have nothing to do with /a/.
But I have a few seconds to spare this weekend, and plan on finishing all I started.

Crap, mostly.
Danmachi S3, which is way better than S2, and please don't mention that Aiz Whatzitstein show from a few years ago. No more yuri elves, please.
Majo no Tabitabi. Not as lighthearted as you might think, took me by surprise with how dark a few eps were.
The latest Higurashi is holding my interest. I watched the original, played the VN, and got through too many manga (until I dropped that, too much to keep track of).
Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear is so damn cute, I didnt' quite go into insulin shock, but keep that epipen handy.

A few shows were kind of mind twisting.
For one, Talentless Nana was something I expected to drop quick. Somehow, my interest is still piqued. Will catch up this weekend.
A head scratcher was I'm Standing On a Million Men....or something to that effect. It started out interesting and kind of fun. The art fell off a cliff halfway through. Imagine taking a megane twin-tail otaku gril-and do what you have to to keep her from being pleasant or interesting. How?
This show looked like they blew the budget on the first 4 eps. It got dark. Not as bad as that kanojo ga flag atrocity from 6 years or so ago, but not good. Didn't exactly stick the landing, but it was tolerable...And they already announced a sequel! This is gonna be fun, to see a show with less of a budget than Marchen Madchen. But I liked Marchen Madchen.

No, really. the jokes are great, the writing is great, the characters are fun, and there's nothing to dislike about it.

Earlier, I mentioned my waifu. I've had so many possible ones, but this year? Oh yeah, I found my dream girl.

2 shows I'd never seen before were great. Especially Soredemo Machi wa Mawattiru. Damn, how did I miss that? Maoyuu maou Yuusha too. Glad I didn't miss these.

But the impossible happened this year. There's been a live action show from an anime-one which I gushed over last year. And....it's good! Pretty canon to the anime too.
