While I share your sentiments regarding alcoholic beverages, I'm partial to wine, not spirits.
Which is not to say that I don't enjoy an occasional whiskey or whisky.

My current favorite wine is the Valdepeñas Gran reserva from 2002.

Although I will occasionally partake in a well aged single malt scotch, I must admit that I too am primarily an oenophile.

When I require a beverage with a little more fire than the average wine, I will turn to a tawny port or madeira, such as this 15 year old Bual from Cossart Gordon.

If one should be so bold as to limit oneself to the use of malt whiskey for consumption during the aftermath of ones daily escapades, i would readily entreat thee to attempt the Ardbeg Renaissance.

I am but a humble teetotaler.

Ah, one's choice of alcohol does indeed say paragraphs about one's personality and class. I myself enjoy a few shots of Whiskey after most days.

Although I find scotch quite congenial, I have always venerated a good gin, or a jenever when I can find one. When mixed, I quite enjoy a Tom Collins or even a simple Gin and Tonic.

I rather enjoy Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey mixed with Ginger Ale.

Crown Royal is my drink of choice, it is the kind of drink you can serve to friends without bankrupting yourself or feeling that you are a miser. I prefer the Special Reserve, but usually drink the regular as to not spoil my palette too much. I cannot recommend the Black variety, just as a matter of personal taste.

Drambuie. 1 glass is enough, as it is rather sweet.

I had to quit drinking as my parents were getting worried about me. Last time they locked me in the basement and I brok my knuckle punching a wall.
I used to like a really nice G&T composed of Whitley Neils gin (a craft gin thats pretty accesible and relatively cheap)mixed with fever tree tonic water.
Then it startd going down hill and I began drinking 3litre bottles of white cider. then I lost my job so i didn't have a job to enjoy a relaxing drink after..then I started drinking in the morning

The only cocktail I have ever found palatable is the Old Fashioned. A simple classic where the added components serve to enhance the attributes of the whiskey.

I recommnend you to try The Macallan 12 sherry oak.

Scotch is my cup of tea in most cases, with Oban being my favorite, though I have been known to settle for perhaps Jameson's or a Bourbon. I also enjoy a quality vodka after a hard night of work; Stolichnaya or Svedka as I find Grey Goose overrated.

I'm partial to whiskey, gin and bitters myself. Never been a cognac man. Lately though, I've found a fondness for the Old Fashioned cocktail, and I find myself drinking it in situations I would otherwise opt for a Whiskey or Gin Tonic. The unavailability of good bourbon on this side of the Atlantic irks me to no end.

A well done premium rum for me, although I'm all too willing to have a Captain Morgans Private Stock. A first class drink despite its price.

When company is over we will often have a glass of Dom. Romane Conti or Chteau Le Pin Pomerol. But on occasion I will indulge in a fine Cognac, my favorite being Henri IV Dudognon Heritage. I'd highly recommend it.

Personally, I like a little Soju. When I had a younger stomach, I liked Cognac and Scotch whisky. Recently, though, when the occasion has granted something stronger I've gone with Scotch. I think I've developed my taste in Cognac too far to appreciate the lower end stuff.

As a man of class, I have partaken in many a good night of drinking with my fellow chaps. As the occasion demands, different drinks are always brought to our attention. In times where we need to scour the streets to pass time, fine ale like Lowenbrau, Stiegl, or Pilsner Urquell. Odd other drinks sometimes catch our attention, but rarely do they meet our needs. Vodka has always been among my least favorite libations (though I would like to try the true Russian 'Starka' at least once...I've heard some good things).

But the all-time most hated libation, for me, is whiskey in any form. I can drink Crown Royal, but (trust me on this) you don't want me to...under its malevolent influence I revert to my Ozark hillbilly roots and become EXTREMELY, and sometimes violently, anti-social. You know; barking guns, edged weapons, flowing blood...all that tiresome ugliness.

Brandy and such like; they will send this fearless, square-jawed hero screaming in terror faster than a manly French hooker with hairy pits. What little I have partaken in that line was enough to convince me that I don't want any more. I know that Winston Churchill was VERY fond of the stuff, but that just shows that he was, in the final analysis, a Nutter. Of course, his misguided adventure at Narvik is reason enough for the serious student of history to already hold that opinion.

So, in closing, just give me a good beer (yes, American domestic is PISS), some good Frog jokes, and some banjo music to shoot at Yankees by. I'm GOOOOOOOOOOOD!

In the autumn I pick black currant from the gardens and make black currant liqueur. It's usually done in time for Christmas. I like to serve it along with dessert.

I like to try out many different liquors, but I always end up going back to my two favorite spirits.

The first is Woodford Reserve, although the brand is fairly new on the bourbon scene (1996) master distiller Chris Morris truly is a genius, consistently producing a bourbon with a distinct character from other top offerings on the market. Woodford is exceptionally balanced and manages to represent bourbon notes that are usually overpowered with equal intensity. Woodford will immerse you in flavors that the best bourbons only tease you with. The most surprising aspect is the cool, almost minty finish.

My second mainstay is Casa Noble Anejo. A smooth, buttery and vanilla affair that needs no further embellishment.

I prefer the taste and inebriatory effects of Kraken Rum on the rocks. It is rather spendy, but potent and very tasty. I will settle for a rum that is lighter on the wallet like Captain Morgan but I do indeed prefer the eloquent flavor of the mighty Kraken.

The counterman did his best to convince me Patron was of the highest quality, but to me it tasted like sugarwater for the lowly masses. Don Julio will soon be resident in my abode.

On another note, Jose Cuervo Reserva De La Familia is also quite agreeable albeit a bit expensive in comparison.

Personally I prefer a medium sweet white wine, a riesling or moscato perhaps, but had I to choose a spirit it will be bourbon or cognac.
A long time ago I had one bottle of old cognac in a green matte bottle. It was absolutely gorgeous in taste, I only wish I could still remember its name.

The "Uncouth Swine" is back on the premisis. I was indeed very intoxicated in my last post. But I do like to make fun of the Australians. I am actually an englishman living in New Zealand, and my drink of choice is easy - Hennessy.

Nothing beats a fine cognac, and no cognac is more fine than Hennensy, with the runner up of course being Courvoisier.

And for a fun fact, Hennessy was also Ozzy Osbourne's drink of choice!

My drink of choice. Only available in Kentucky in limited quantities, but it's so damn good. Perhaps the finest beer I have ever had the pleasure of tasting.

In terms of fancier drinks, I quite like bourbon. I tend to stay away from Irish Whiskey, but a good Knob Creek or some other such bourbon usually hits the spot when I'm in front of my fireplace listening to jazz on a cold, rainy evening.

Beer and scotch man myself. If you haven't yet check out your local brewery. Go down there pick up a couple of growlers. Most will let you sample everything first so you'll never go home with a beer you don't like. Usually runs about $15 per the first time but after you own the containers its a great deal.

A fine choice! I used to dislike bourbon, but Knob Creek opened my eyes to a new world of taste! However, I still prefer my more rye oriented whiskey, which is why I'll suggest the smooth Forty Creek.

Personally I prefer a good bourbon or an aged rum, something 20+ years old if possible. For bourbon my favorites are probably Blanton's Gold and Pappy Van Winkle 23-year, whereas for rum I would heartily recommend El Dorado 25-year or Ron Zacapa XO Gran Reserva.

Good middle range (40-70 usd) Scotches that I like to keep on hand. Listed from peat to sherry:

Aberlour A'bunadh

Be certain to start off neat. Sample that first off, then wait five minutes and sample again. Afterwards add a couple drops of a good bottled water and let that sit for a minute or so, sample yet again. The flavour should change considerably over these three sampling, pick whichever you like the most and run with it. Keep in mind that the Aberlour is a cask strength, so you can add a dollop rather than merely several drops.

VAT69 is my blend of choice.
As a student, I had to achieve taste for accessible marks, such as the mentioned, for my currently low social position. I hope this may change once I'm done getting my degree as a physician and a respectful job with a decent monetary retribution.
On the bright side, wine is really cheap in my country of residence, and pretty acceptable too, so in general I end up consuming it.
