Bro capitalism works fucking awesome when there is no end to your resources. The golden ages of man were after the new world was found and there were endless Indians to kill and take their shit. Then built on top of that was after a gazillion people died in world war 2 and there was endless resource left behind to pilfer. Running with that was the vast expansion of shipping that came after which let everyone trade unrestricted. But now we've come to the end of that rope and our policy of eternal growth is meeting the reality that the earth is a ball, and balls are definitionally finite. Basically society is hitting the wall. No one makes good dish washers because everyone in the world who would realistically buy one, has one. Things were ultra high quality back in the day when you had an endless deluge of new customers because the reputation would count. But today that seemingly endless frontier to expand into and compete with is gone. The only way now to remain competitive in most markets is not by getting new customers, but by keeping repeat customers. It's suicide to do that based upon quality nowadays. Some companies held onto that for a while because their product was a side hustle, i.e., Toyota making high quality cars because their main products are industrial looms, or Speed Queen making good household washers and dryers because their main hustle is industrial laundry equipment. But that pool is drying up too, and consequently their quality is fading.
Basically anyone whose business model is predicated on high quality is fucking themselves in the long run because anyone who buys their shit isn't going to come back for another and their pool of customers will inevitably run dry
