Heya 7chan! (。^_・)ノ

Summer is quickly coming to a close and if you have a home like me and in the northern hemisphere, you're now starting to see the sun returning inside the home from your southern facing sliding glass doors and windows. It then peaks inside the home in the deep of winter and turns around and slowly heads back out during spring. We've had some beautiful nights recently where we've been able to open the windows at night and chill out the house for the entire next day. It's just a taste I bet. Errr, anyways... it's the Full Sturgeon Moon!

This months full moon will take place on August 28th at 12:18 a.m. EST. There is also a good chance you will witness a Full Lunar Eclipse as well during that time. This eclipse will last five hours and thirty eight minutes. It will start for us at 9:23 p.m. EST the previous night and end at 3:01 EST the next day. 96% of the face of the full moon will fall into Earths shadow. What will this create? A BLOOD MOON! For those in the Americas we will get a little icing on the cake. During the rise at 9:23 p.m. the moon will already be eclipsed and blood red. Then you pair that with the atmospheric interference being so long it SHOULD be a very deep dark orange/red at least initially when it is down close to horizon. Worth a look!

As for me, I haven't really been anywhere or done anything much of note. Next month starts a huge shoulder travel season where I'll be on three different continents before winter and passing through the Panama Canal which should be cool. I hope you all have a great viewing and start enjoying the upcoming nice weather! Have a nice night! <3

Shot this a few minutes ago

First one is with fake ai "filter" or whatever and the other one is real with my phone just what the camera lens captures

The first one is 120 zoom, the second one is 60 zoom, might read this thread later, but going for a walk now

Thanks for the heads up liru-chan

This photo is long exposure, actually it's 1 hour to midnight, it's night, pretty bright, but it doesn't look like day

Oh, I hope it stays clear tonight. I'm busting out my good camera for it. Such a shame I can't use it to its full potential because I don't know what the hell to do with it but I'm glad to have it!

Did a bit of moongazing last night for the waxing gibbous, though. The moon rules!

well I would stay and say hi to Luna, except the fog rolled in and it looks like if you step outside you'll end up in Ravenloft {Yeah bit of a D&D ref there}

so i'm off to bed

Cool! I did some experiments on that fake moon thing and how it would adapt to a lunar eclipse or the potential red blood moon. What I believed was turning in on or off made no difference. The only thing I noticed is I think when it's in the Space zoom mode it blackens all around the moon. It seems like some processing is always being done and in what I think is on or off it showed the moon disappearing.

Unfortunately there was no red for me and from what I can tell by some people I know in a clear area it didn't really get red either because of it being only 96% not full. That little sliver is EXTREMELY bright and makes it hard to see the red. In my case, there was some overcast during the peak but I still was able to wait for a brief opening.

Been blessed with several GREAT nights for seeing the moon. Probably one of my favorite full moons of the year, if only for the fact that I've finally had good visibility for it.

It's actually been a bit hazy and hot lately and there are still a few more days of that until I can open the windows in the house again. Tommorow we will finally be in September!

I know for a fact that my camera has some kind of built in AI because the pics I take at night are color corrected from orange.
