The sea was completely empty. It started with "No SpongeBob Day," a holiday meant to give Bikini Bottom a single day of peace away from his antics. But one day wasn't enough for them. The entire town packed their bags and left, leaving the sponge entirely alone. One day turned into a week, and a week turned into fourteen agonizing days of absolute isolation.
Left alone in the silence, SpongeBob’s mind began to unravel. The silence in his pineapple was deafening. He drifted into a deep depression, which quickly mutated into severe, terrifying delusions. He convinced himself that the entire world hated him, that his existence was a curse to everyone he loved.
When the citizens finally returned to Bikini Bottom, nobody noticed his absence at first. Three days passed, and nobody saw him. Mr. Krabs grew anxious, wondering why his star fry cook hadn't shown up for work. Patrick, completely oblivious to the passage of time, decided he wanted to go jellyfishing. He walked up to the pineapple, knocking loudly on the front door. There was no answer.
Inside, the house was dark, overwhelmed by an oppressive atmosphere of despair. In the center of the living room sat SpongeBob, completely lost in his own sorrow, surrounded by manifestations of his unraveled mind.
Giving up, Patrick wandered over to Squidward’s house and knocked on the door. "Squidward, do you know where SpongeBob is?" Patrick asked. Squidward scoffed, rolling his eyes. "I don't know, Patrick, and frankly, I hope I never see him again."
The next morning, the heavy glass doors of the Krusty Krab swung open. SpongeBob walked in, his head hanging low, his movements stiff and robotic. Sandy Cheeks was sitting at a table and smiled when she saw him. "Hey there, SpongeBob! Can I get a Krabby Patty? Say, why do you look so sad, partner?"
SpongeBob didn't offer a word. He didn't even look at her. He walked straight past the counter, entered the kitchen, and slammed the door shut behind him.
Once inside, the weight of his isolation broke him completely. He wept bitterly, consumed by the delusion that he had been rejected by everyone he knew. “I can't take this anymore,” he whispered to the empty kitchen. “Everybody hates me. Everybody hates me.”
In a daze, he began to operate the kitchen, but his overwhelming distress began to affect everything around him. Out in the dining room, the atmosphere grew cold, and customers began to complain about the strange, unappetizing quality of the food. Hearing the commotion, Squidward stormed into the kitchen to confront the cook.
"SpongeBob, what is wrong with you today?!" Squidward yelled, slamming the door open.
The words caught in his throat. The kitchen was in complete disarray, shrouded in unnatural shadows. SpongeBob was collapsed over the cooking station, entirely unresponsive, overcome by his psychological collapse. Next to him lay a crumpled, stained piece of paper. Written in shaky, desperate handwriting were the words: Why does everybody hate me so much?
Squidward’s cynical demeanor shattered. He was terrified, his heart breaking at the sight of his neighbor's profound despair. Gasping for air, he sprinted into Mr. Krabs’ office. "Mr. Krabs! You have to see this! It’s SpongeBob!"
For a split second, Mr. Krabs didn't react normally. His face contorted, and his mouth stretched into a massive, unnatural, distorted curved grin that defied anatomy. Then, just as quickly, his face snapped back to normal. He looked at Squidward with a look of worry. "What's wrong, boy?"
Squidward stammered out what he had seen, and Mr. Krabs rushed into the kitchen. He saw the broken state of his fry cook and the heartbreaking note, tears welling up in his eyes.
But they weren't alone.
From the shadows of the freezer, a figure stepped out. It looked like SpongeBob, but all the color had been drained from him—he was entirely monochrome, black and white. His eyes were wide, glowing a piercing red, and his mouth was locked into a twisted, curved smile. He held an ominous, dark tool in his hand.
Before Mr. Krabs could react, the strange entity lunged forward, enveloping the restaurant owner in the darkness of the kitchen.
Suddenly, the entire world began to violently glitch. Screen static tore across the air, loud digital screeching echoing through the ocean. The environment flashed rapidly, resetting the day back to normal. The Krusty Krab appeared intact, but something was deeply wrong.
The sky above Bikini Bottom wasn't blue—it was a corrupted, glitching neon purple. The colors of the world began to bleed away into a suffocating blackness.
In the final frame, the screen showed SpongeBob standing alone in the center of the void. His eyes glowed a red hue, and he clutched his spatula tightly. Slowly, the floor beneath him vanished. SpongeBob fell backward into a bottomless black abyss, and one by one, the rest of Bikini Bottom fell into the darkness right along with him, until there was nothing left but static.
