I don't entirely agree with this chart (born in 84 and much more Gen-X than Millennial myself), but I think it's important that people know there are more than just two generations of people alive in the world today.

OK BOOMER

But I agree their timeline is off by about 5 years. Gen Y is generally considered to start sometime in the early 2000s, whereas Millenials are millenials because they were born in the time leading up to and shortly after 2000.

The problem is Boomers call gen Y Millenials and Gen Y calls gen X Boomers because they're the two groups with the least experience with each other.

Which is really fucking stupid because they shouldn't be mad at each other, they should be mad at the 1% who are orchestrating the GOP's political theater.

Generation is just a shorter term for current population

I wish someone could explain to me when "Generation Y" got replaced by "Millennials". Because back in my day, someone born in the late 80's was Gen Y and "Millennial" was what we called people born AFTER THE NEW FUCKING MILLENNIUM.

Because "grew up during-" is a meaningless dogshit definition that has no hard dates and is based on nebulous ideas like that "growing up" somehow only takes place between ages 8 and 18 or something.

Then they somehow inverted these two? I remember looking up stuff about this to define myself (born in '86) as late as the mid 2000's, and ALL SOURCES saying that I would be Generation Y (or XY cusp if you want to be really specific), and now all of a sudden that's different??

Boomers were people born towards the end of WWII

Every generation after that has been named after music fads... Hippies, punks...

Then it got to Gen X, which spawned the term Gen Y (my generation btw) and millenials for YEARS were considered only born after 2000.

How. In. The. Fuck does no one remember this? I'm 30 I guess, I must be getting old

So internet denizens are already calling you "boomer".

Not jews, just dumb fucking children. I'm sure every generation has said that the next was dumber, with a shorter attention span, and bad taste in everything. They were right. My parents were right about me, and my grandparents were right about them. It's true about this generation of youth as well: they are less intelligent, their attention spans are almost non-existent, and they have no taste in anything whatsoever.

Humanity is about to hit rock bottom. We've been in decline since WWII and this is the breaking point. The next generation will not be intellectually capable of perpetuating the species.
