We are in the process of fixing long-standing bugs with the thread reader. This will probably cause more bugs for a short period of time. Buckle up.

File MechanicalHornedHorseAssault.swf - (2.97MB )

I've been working on a SWF editor, Flashbulb, and it's mature enough that it's ready to share. Instead of messing files up with decompilers, you can now edit them directly. Import and export sound and graphics, change the framerate and background color, remove unwanted dongs, even mess around with Actionscript 3 variables. It's still a long ways from being finished but quite useful as is.

Here's a wall of text describing what it is:

Download it here:

Obviously it's coming from an untrusted source and could be malware, so upload it to Jotti if you're worried about it (virusscan.jotti.org). The choice is yours.

There's another swf-related tool in the utilities section of my website. It raised a complete shitstorm when I brought it up elsewhere, so I'm just going to glaze over the fact that it's there.

Very interested in seeing this mature.
The raw tag editing is great and I really wish other software included this. After looking over the features page I can see you've got a lot planned, this is exciting news.
Good job on this, hope to see it flourish.

Coming up in the next update: intentional corruption. Select how much you want to screw up the file on a sliding scale, hit ok, and in seconds you'll have a David Lynch masterpiece.

File MinacleHiracle.swf - (5.94MB )

I've been working on getting Actionscript 1&2 implemented -- as expected, it has been a huge headache. I have it reliably disassembling to a machine code-like language, and it should be straightforward to get it to reassemble from the same.

Going to and from proper Actionscript is another story. I do have a partially functional decompiler coded, but it's going to be a while before I get all the bugs out. I'm really not looking forward to coding a compiler. I'll probably put that off for a while.

I think once the machine-code assembler is working I'll focus on getting vector art tags to export/import to/from SVG files. It'll be a pain (nonstop unaligned bitfields, screw up a single bit and everything goes up in flames) but not nearly as big a pain as Actionscript.

Intentional corruption, huh?

I'd love to use that in flash games, and also see someone like Vinny from Vinesauce stream corruptions made from this tool. (sorry if this sounds like advertising, it's not i swear)

Yep, I got the idea from Vinny's videos. I have doubts that I could cause the interesting gameplay glitches of his tool though. Corrupting Actionscript usually just results in a broken file. I think I'm limited to just messing up graphic and sound data.

Added filters, which will be in the next release (if I ever stop screwing around with new features and finish the Actionscript assembler).

File VectorChildren.swf - (4.01MB )

Flashbulb 0.40, "the update overdue by months", is up and ready for download. A summary of significant changes:

• Major code overhaul. Nothing that you can see, but it has made my life a lot easier.
• Sponsor credits feature. Retro chiptune goodness.
• Added corruption filters.
• Added color filters.
• Implemented the FileAttributes tag (allows files like vip.swf to be modded to run locally).
• Added import and export for the DefineBinaryData tag.
• DefineShape and DefineShape2 tags are exportable as SVG images.
• Actionscript 1 and 2 disassembly/decompilation partially implemented.

Feature request.
Regarding the ABC functionality, would be great if we could adjust the access modifiers for variables and methods, especially helpful in batch. (Mass set public, for example)
Keep up the good work, this is a useful tool.

if you are looking for a SWF editor check out, jpexs decompiler. it's lightweight. runs on windows, linux, and OS X. it's also free.

https://github.com/jindrapetrik/jpexs-decompiler

i do all my mod/edits with this. for removing censorship. editing colors, shapes, sounds. fixing horrible grammar. correcting ages as show with this flash lol. it's pretty great.
