I finally got an opportunity to watch WWZ last night, and, yes, I was disappointed. Anybody else feel that the movie was a wasted opportunity to tell a great story, bore remarkably little resemblance to the superb novel, and spent far, FAR too much time delving into the angst and showcasing the nobility of Brad Pitt's boringly conventional, formulaic character?

I think they "Transformers-ed" it, if you will. It was very flashy and entertaining, but after seeing it, I could remember the scenes of zombie waves ten times as well as I could remember any aspect of the plot. It was all about flashy entertainment. It's up to the viewer to decide if that's necessarily a bad thing.

OP here, and I can't say that the movie wasn't entertaining on a certain level. My primary point is that it WASN'T World War Z; it did not resemble the novel at all. Don't get me wrong; I have seen MUCH WORSE zombie flicks (as we all have, I am sure). My disappointment stems from the fact that I really enjoyed the Brooks novel, and thus had inflated expectations for the movie. I enjoyed watching it, but I also enjoyed watching 'Tokyo Zombie' and 'Strippers Vs. Zombies'; neither had the budget or effects of WWZ, but both were good for a lot of laughs, and Brad Pitt's flick certainly didn't have very many of those.

Well, I think it was a realistic movie, bur you're right it's not a great movie. I'd rather watch 28 months movie.
